A promise: (n) a declaration that one will do something or that a particular thing will happen. (Oxford Dictionary)

One last night and then I would be on my way back to my mundane life. Only tonight is left for me to be in the presence of Leah.

I spent the morning laying on the beach, enjoying the sun and the salt. I spent the whole day wishing that tonight would last forever. I wanted time to stop moving forward. Leah was upbeat but I could see sadness in her eyes. I wasn't sure if the sadness in her eyes belonged to me or it was there because of her mother. I wasn't brave enough to ask the question, because whatever was the answer, it will break my heart. I was already dreading the moment where I would meet my father, and would part ways with my Leah.

We still didn't talk about the night at the police station. I didn't want to put pressure on her, she will tell me everything whenever she is ready.

We were in the bedroom; Leah was standing in front of the mirror combing her hair as I was sitting on the bed.

"They are one of my favorite local bands," Leah explained as she was putting her hair up in a high ponytail.

I stood up and walked to her, standing behind her. Our eyes met through the mirror as I moved my hand and put it on hers bringing her movement to a halt. I slowly moved down the hair tie and freed her brown strands. Her hair fell down her back like wild running horses. Her eyes glowed as we watched each other.

"You can't tame what's free!" I whispered into her ear, "You look more alive and wilder with your hair down."

Leah leaned back into me and rested her head on my chest. A small smile played on her lips as we kept looking into each other's eyes through the mirror.

"Then, down it will stay," She whispered back

I placed a small kiss on her cheek, "What are they called?"

Leah looked at me questioningly. I smiled at her "The band."

"Oh! The Moon and The Wild Child."

"No mosquitoes this time, huh."

Leah started laughing, when someone knocked on the door. We both looked at the door as Farah's head appeared from behind it.

"Are you guys ready?" She asked enthusiastically.

"Yes! We are." Leah answered with the same enthusiasm, as I nodded.

This time the whole party joined us in our last night of fun. We drove down the pine trees and the scent of rosemary and salt. The warm summer breeze filled the car and Lena Deray was singing into the night. The drive was over when we reached the city center. The streets were filled with crowds of people enjoying the summer night.

We walked to a local open space where bands perform during the summer. The area was packed with restaurants and bars. Leah and I walked hand in hand as she rested her head over my shoulder. Farah and Cole were talking to Craig and Kathy, while the rest were walking ahead of us, chatting and laughing.
