I focused on the ticking of the large grandfather clock standing beside a glass cabinet filled to the brim with gold ,bronze and silver.
The large ball buzzed as old friends were reunited with each other after a long summer apart.
Of course I had no old friends to be reunited with .
Well apart from loneliness. But that doesn't really count. Does it?
Just as I was pondering that very question I heard a sunny voice speak to me .
" Go you must be new I'm Cecily , Cecily Alister , " the cheerful girl spoke with such happiness I felt immediately better.
I brought my neck up to start at her. She had a contagious smile and sun streaked hair.
" Hi I'm Enola, Enola Holmes . "
She raised an eyebrow.
" Yes he is my brother. "
" Sorry for asking, you probably hear that a lot? "
I smiled and nodded.
" Here come with me , I'll introduce you to my friends . "
She gently grabbed my wrist and pulled me along with her to the middle of the hall.
" This is Flo , " Cecily said.
" Hi Flo I'm Enola. " I tried to sound as cheerful as possible but she saw right through it.
" You don't need to pretend to be super cheerful , I already hang out with Cecily . "
She smirked. Some people may not have liked someone like this but don't worry I'm not picky.

Flo - Florence Evens
A booming voice came from the stage just ahead us.
" Welcome back to another wonderfully pleasant year at St. James Boarding School, " from what I've read I assumed that's Ms. Harrison the headmistress.
"I trust that everyone stayed safe this summer and studied hard."
If there ever was a faint murmur it soon ceased after Ms. Harrison glared at us like a hawk .
" Right old birch she is , " I heard Flo murmur . Well it wasn't hard to hear because you could of heard a pin drop in this silence.
" Right , I m going to skip over the greetings because I couldn't really care less how you feel. "
Enola had to blink multiple time to make sure she heard that right. Everyone else seemed completely normal after hearing that. I know teachers don't usually care about that kinda stuff but they'd never say it out loud .
God this year was gonna be hell with her.
But in the bright side I seemed to have made some new friends already . That was quick . I guess some people pity lonely people so they feel the need to talk to them or something like that.
" The most important thing I must say is that not rule breaking will be permitted. Every child will be given a copy of the rules which are extremely important to follow because of you break them you could face expulsion. Understood. Right a list of forms is pinned on the notice board you are excused. "
I sighed . This is gonna be a long two years with her.
