Synopsis: You recently became a widow, because your darling husband Philip Graves became KIA. Leaving you to raise your daughter alone, she didn't understand grief yet. Of course, you had to explain to her as gently as you could that daddy was not coming home. You were healing, not to the point where you could date again, but to where you didn't wear his shirt anymore or cry when you saw his picture.
Content: Sadness, Philip is dead, depression, talks of self-harm. minors dmi.
A/N I'm thinking about making an Instagram or tik tok dedicated to my writing - idk if y'all would be interested or not. I made one when I was in the far cry 5 fandom ( John Seed <3 ) and I left because that's a toxic fandom, it's all drama. I'm so glad codmw22 fandom isn't like that.

The sun was shining, and the sound of laughter filled the air. You watched your daughter play, her little feet taking her up the slide and down again. You couldn't help but smile, even through your sadness. She was so strong, and had been through so much. She was finally getting better, and you were so proud of her. You could see the future unfolding in front of her, and were excited to see what she could become. She talked about taking over daddy's place, which caused you too cry more. You knew Philip would not want that at all, he wanted her to pursue something different, but he would never stop her from it.
You watched in awe as your daughter swung around the monkey bars. She was filled with so much energy and joy that it was infectious. You couldn't help but smile as she flipped off the bars, calling out for you to watch. You gave her a thumbs up, feeling proud of her as she continued to show off her skills. You wished you had the energy to join her, but you knew that Philip was the better parent and you were learning how to cope without him. You had looked up because you daughter had called your name and noticed a strange man walking around
The man seemed harmless, but you knew it was better to be safe than sorry. You watched him out of the corner of your eye as he settled down on the bench, doing your best to seem nonchalant. He looked up at you and smiled, and reached for his phone to answer an incoming call.
You couldn't help but smile back, feeling a little bit of relief.
Uh hey lass?" A bit surprised you turned towards his direction confused.
You don't know or need to worry about who I am, I just worked with your husband." He continued while messing around with his hand.
You could already feel the tears forming, and wiped your eyes quickly.
What about Philip, he's passed," you said quietly, not really wanting to have this conversation. You looked up at him and noticed his features, you could tell by his accent that he was from Ireland or Scotland
He rubbed his eyes and you fiddled around with your wedding band, you haven't got Philips' yet. When you called and asked for it, apparently nobody could find it. Which had you rolling your eyes at the sky.
He was a good man, and he loved the both of you so much. I found his ring and I wanted to give it to you." He said while fishing Philips' ring out of his pocket. By now you had started to cry, you couldn't be strong any longer
You needed him and he wasn't coming back.
You didn't know what Philip did, and the man wouldn't explain. He said he didn't want to taint Philip for you, but you had begged and the man wouldn't give in. He just gave you a pat on the back and walked off.
Before the man left, he grabbed ahold of your hand and squeezed it.
"I wish this could have been different, I wish I didn't have to take him from you."
