"Nee~ Shinji-san... are we going to sleep inside of that thing?"

Kurumi asked as she patted Shinji on the shoulder. Making Shinji, who was studying all possible actions that he can do with the Hatchery, pause in response. Turning his head towards Kurumi as she pointed her finger in the direction of the hatchery.

"... I don't think it's possible to live inside this thing. Inside of it is a bit slimy and it often moves because this thing is alive. Even if we can live inside this thing, I don't think both of us would be able to stomach it"

He said before rubbing his chin in response. Thinking deeply about what Kurumi has said since he didn't consider their shelter when choosing a race. If he chose any other faction other than the Zergs and Undead, then he wouldn't need to worry too much about finding a shelter. All their buildings can already be used as a shelter, and even some of them already have a built-in room inside of it.

"... You have a point... Well... it's not like we'll be able to sleep comfortably during our first few days in this place. We'll have to actively defend the base during nighttime since monsters would start flooding our base once the sun sets down..."

He said. Remembering what the woman from before has said about their situation. Every single night a monster stampede would run through their place, and this stampede increases in strength and destructive prowess as days passes. So it forces the player to rush constructing their defenses or else they'll get killed even before facing other players.

The only reason why he thought that they have done this was to keep the game interesting. It would be pretty boring watching a bunch of mortals doing nothing but build their base and army every single day.

He predicted that none of the players would start killing each other in the first few days. They have to balance between units and the economy. Especially since all of the prices of troops and infrastructure are astronomical. They have to focus on raising their funds first... but this only applies if the assistant they got isn't useless or has no combat capabilities.

"Hey, Kurumi... How many people do you have in your [City of Devouring Time]?"

"Hmm? I was created from nothing, Shinji-san~ So, I have no one to drain time from. Even my clones disappeared, so... if I wish to use [Zafkiel], I have to drain my own time"

She said, causing Shinji's expression to darken in response. Not expecting this kind of condition to appear. This made most of his plans go down the drain since he planned to use Kurumi and her clones as guards for their base. Making him let out a sigh in response while scratching his head in frustration.

"Well... even though the life force of animals is a bit small due to their short lifespan. I guess they'll do it for now. It's a bit risky to scout another nearby base because we have no idea how strong their assistants are. Is that alright with you Kurumi?"

"It's not like we have any other choices, so it'll do"

He said before he placed his attention back on the game interface with a serious expression. Trying to think about which upgrade he should choose. Each upgrade cost him about 1000 minerals, which is everything he has right now, and it goes on a month-long cooldown after he bought one of those upgrades. So, he needs to think about what would help him during their first few days, or else the upgrade would practically become useless for him.

"Let's see... An automatic extractor does sound attractive since I don't need to allocate drones to harvest vespene gas but... it harvests it at a fixed rate unlike when I assign drones to do it instead. So, it's probably the worst upgrade I have right now. The same goes for increased vespene efficiency. I don't think I'll be using vespene gas that much during the first week... so that only leaves me with 4 options"
