In the following morning, Y/n tried to make a good disguise from clothes they could find at home. They borrowed their mother's hat and father's coat. It was baggy on them and they probably looked weird, but at least the guards or Frollo won't recognize them, hopefully.
Y/n wasn't sure whether they want to visit Quasimodo first or if they would rather just go for a walk around. The walk sounded better and less risky so they decided to do that. While they went for a walk around the street, Y/n couldn't shake off this weird feeling that something will go terribly wrong. Almost as if a disaster is supposed to take place today. But how? And what exactly would go wrong? This feeling was on their mind even when they were having lunch. Y/n's mother was about ask them what wrong, but at that exact moment their father came home from shopping and he seemed very surprised, almost shocked.
"What happened (father's name) ?" Y/n's mother asked him, worriedly.
"You wouldn't believe what I just saw, dear. Frollo sent his soldiers to the bakery and they almost destroyed the whole place."
"Frollo?!" Y/n really couldn't believe what they heard.
"Why would he do that?" Y/n's mom asked, frightened.
"From what I heard, he was looking for some gypsy girl. I can't remember her name, but I think it started with E."
"Esmeralda! Goodness!" Y/n blurted out and ran out of the house faster than the wind.
"Y/n, wait!" their mom called and tried to reach them, but they were too quick. Before their parents could stop them, they were running through the city trying to find Frollo and make sure he won't find Esmeralda.Soon, they had to stop running and catch their breath. Luckily for them, they stopped right by a windmill where Frollo went. A crowd of people has formed nearby. Y/n snuck in and tried to see what was going on there. Someone in the crowd said that Frollo has got mad and they couldn't agree more. In fact, what was his problem? Esme didn't even do anything. Y/n saw Frollo block the front door of the building with a spear that one of the soldiers was holding. They couldn't hear what he or Phoebus said, but it didn't seem good. Frollo than handed Phoebus a torch. Did he want to burn down the windmill with miller and his family?! Y/n got worried that they were wrong about Phoebus and that he might be just like the other soldiers, if not even worse. But all those worries were gone as soon as they noticed that the captian disobeyed and distinguished the torch by dipping it in the barrel filled up with water. Apparently it wasn't as much of a problem for Frollo because he got another torch from one of the soldiers and burned the windmill. The glowing flames swallowed the entire building and Y/n was petrified. Calls for help could be heard from the house and so Phoebus jumped in through the window and then kicked out the door, carrying miller's children. The miller and his wife followed him and the whole place collapsed as it was burning. The burning windmill was something Y/n never thought they'd witness but seeing Phoebus save someone made them feel weirdly good. He technically saved them yesterday as well. Why did Y/n like that fact alone give them butterflies?
There was no time for butterflies in their stomach, because two of Frollo's soldiers knocked Phoebus to the ground and were about to execute him. Y/n was so nervous and scared they couldn't even think. They were looking around for anything that could help.
They then quickly grabbed a small rock from the ground and threw it at Frollo's horse, that made the horse stand up on two legs, which followed up with Frollo falling off his saddle. Phoebus knocked out the soldiers and got on Frollo's horse. It all happened so fast, just as Y/n could see Phoebus rode on a near bridge, soldiers started shooting arrows at him. One of the arrows hit him and he fell over into the river. When Y/n saw that they could feel their heart sink, they weren't far from bursting in tears. Frollo's soldiers didn't stop shooting arrows at Phoebus until Frollo ordered them to stop and they all left. Y/n went slowly towards the river, a quiet voice in their mind was screaming and asking what do they think they're doing, yet a louder one said to just dive in and save Phoebus. Y/n took a deep breath and went into the cold water. After few seconds they rose up from it with unconscious captian in their arms. He was heavy even without his armor, but that didn't matter to them. What mattered was his safety. Y/n climbed up on the coast and tried to catch their breath, while thinking where should they take him.
"Need some help?" a familiar voice asked somewhere around them.
"Well if it isn't that dancer I saw yesterday?" Y/n said sarcastically.
"Y/n, what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to make sure Frollo won't get you. I was worried sick!"
"Well now you don't have to worry about me." Esmeralda said with a smile.
"Yeah..", they looked down at the blonde guy they just saved. "Any idea on where he will be safe?"
"I think I know about a place we could take him to."Y/n, Esmeralda and one of her friends went around Paris with Phoebus still being unconscious. With every step and every second Y/n got more and more worried. What if Phoebus won't get help in time and he will die? They knew they stop thinking about that possiblity but that thought just couldn't leave their mind. They soon got to an oddly familiar building. It was Notre Dame! They all went up the stairs until Esmeralda got to the door leading to the bell tower. She opened it and called out Quasimodo's name.
