Sunday, 2:48 pm, that's what it said when she glanced at her phone. The get-together was today, her friends were gonna come at 4 pm and coincidentally all her family members were out for some work or the other which meant she and her friends could enjoy themselves without worrying about disturbing anyone.
Radha was cleaning up her brother's toys when the bell rang, she glanced at the time just to be sure, she wasn't expecting anyone yet.
She opened the door to see Krishn standing there with a grin so wide, she wondered how it didn't hurt his cheeks.
"When I said don't be late I did not mean that you should get here an hour early" she said with a smirk.
"Oh well forgive me for trying to be a good neighbour and wanting to help"
"A good neighbour huh? I see, come on in" She stepped aside to let him in.
She guided him to the living room where they were gonna hang out and went back to cleaning without a word.
"You're not even gonna offer me a glass of water? 'Tsk kids these days"
Radha let out a groan and went to the kitchen but not before throwing him a dirty glare. When she returned, Krishn was nowhere to be seen. She saw the door leading to her room was open. She rushed inside to find him looking at a picture of Lord Krishna that was hung beside her bed (courtesy of her grandmother).
"What do you think you are doing here?" She asked angrily.
"Just admiring myself" He said, continuing to gaze at the picture.
"What?" She asked confused, maybe she heard him wrong.
He blinked, "Uh nothing, I'm sorry I came in here without permission" and left the room.
Krishn was sitting on the couch while Radha cleaned the room, she felt awkward as she could feel him staring at her. She didn't want to let him work as he was a guest. Meanwhile, Krishn couldn't take his eyes off her, she looked so beautiful, all those years he had waited for her in utter agony flashed in front of his eyes. He thought about how she was near him now but he couldn't find the love in her eyes that he was yearning for, how he couldn't embrace her, how he couldn't play his flute for her that only ever whispered her name, how his heart yearned for her to say his name with love again,
Radha had had enough of his staring when she turned towards him with a sharp look but her expression softened both in shock and worry as she saw a tear making its way down his cheek, her heart hurt. She got up from the floor and sat down beside him on the couch.
"Hey? You okay?" Her voice was gentle.
Her voice broke his trance and he turned to face her with another smile,
"Yeah I'm fine"
She didn't look convinced, her hand hesitantly reached out to wipe his tear away but it stopped mid air as she realised what she was about to do. She quickly put her hand down and cleared her throat, looking everywhere but at his face.
"You came here to help me right? Then help me put away these toys"
With that she got up and went back to her work, she felt Krishn crouch down beside her to help.
"So, you have a sibling?" He asked out of the blue.
She rolled her eyes, "We don't have to get to know each other you know?"
"Oh come on! We are gonna be spending a lot of time together."
She sighed, "Fine, I have a eight year old brother who's mess we are cleaning right now"
