Chapter twelve- 🌻boiling water🌻

🌻this is just a random short oneshot I had an idea for a few minutes ago while I was trying to sleep, so I had to write it before it kinda just disappeared-🌻

y/n's pov :

I walked down the stairs, skipping the last few steps and hopping to the ground. Hunter was making dinner tonight, and he was an incredibly talented chef, whereas I could barely make toast without burning the house down. So in conclusion, don't ask me to cook, ok?

I waltzed into the kitchen, about to ask Hunter when the food would be ready, only to see he had his whole arm in a pot of boiling water on the stove. "What are you doing, love?" I asked, incredibly worried, due to the fact that his arm was in a boiling pot of water. Sure, the rain boils, but we never go out in that- and this was a lot worse.

"I'm just checking to see if the water's hot enough," he replied casually. I knew for a fact that this wasn't something to be casual about.

"Doesn't it... burn?" I asked worriedly. He shook his head. Dear Titan.

"I can barely even feel it, actually," he replied, "Too many scars on my arms- I guess I'm just used to it," he said.

"Love, I don't think that's safe-" I said, pulling his arm out of the pot- it was burning hot, and skin was boiled off in places. I winced at the sight of it. "It isn't good for you to do that, you know..." I whispered, my eyes glossing over. This poor, beautiful boy. His whole body covered in scars, and he was so numb to the pain he could barely feel it anymore. I suddenly gave in and let the tears fall, wrapping my arms around him.

"Wha-what's wrong?" he asked, his voice laced with worry. "Oh- did I make you sad? Oh Titan I'm so sorry-" I silenced him by pressing my lips against his.

"Don't ever do something like that again-" I whispered, holding him tighter.

"I- I won't," he said, hugging back.

"Good," I replied. "I love you, Hunter..." I added in a whisper. He turned a deep shad of crimson.

"I love you too..."
