[Platonic] Yawgate x Reader

Requested by Ky-Arts! Another oneshot affected by the sudden writing burnout— though it should subside by the time I finish writing this (I think?)

Today, Y/N wanted to go to the city of points. Though their friends, the points didn't seem to be available, though one suggested to take the Yawrail where they'll meet who runs it, Yawgate. They headed to where they are, in one of the many stops Yawrail has. They stood nervously as they waited for it to come, soon enough it does arrive, Yawgate would step out of the vehicle and give Y/N a warm and little smile.

"Well hello there! You're a new face at the Yawrail, though I think I've heard of you from some friends. Y/N right?"

"Yes, that's me, then you're Yawgate"

Yawgate nodded. "Mhm! So where are you headed?"

"To the city of points- though I'm not sure since I'm sort of alone this time..."

"You never went there alone?"

"No, I always had someone to take me there and well- take me wherever, it feels awkward to be in a city for points when-"

"-you're not a point?"

"Yeah! It feels weird."

"Oh don't worry, this place is meant for points and other creatures alike, though yes it's for points mostly, but others are encouraged to visit too!"

"I guess... I'm not sure what I'll do there"

"You want me to accompany you?"

"I- you'll do that for me? I just met you-"

"It's fine! I don't mind visiting the city for a day, I don't usually get passengers at the Yawrail, if I do, I can easily get to them"

"Wait how? You're far away from passengers, so how did you find out I was here?"

"Celesteal created for the purpose of being a sort of gate way to dimensions and realities! I'm able to traverse through places quickly, and I can't really explain but I can sense when someone's at certain stops I've set up? Like waypoints as you'll call it?"

"... I understood nothing from that"

"Didn't expect you to know anyway, so are we going to the city?"

"Of course, thank you for this- I appreciate it"

"Not a problem, I'm always available when no one is"

Y/N nodded and entered the Yawrail, Yawgate following closely then started to operate the Yawrail. There was silence for a while as Y/N took time to think to themself.

"So, what do you think about the city?"

Y/N looked surprised when they heard Yawgate speak.

"Oh, uh... It's pretty cool, I've been to a few shops, restaurants and cafes there. It really feels like a normal city, but the inhabitants aren't just humans, but points"

"Have you visited the cafe near Starry Hill resto? I actually work there as a barista"

"You work there!? How come I never see you?"

"I have a specific few days when it's my shift there, you must have visited it when it's not my shift or my shift's done"

"So basically you run the Yawrail for easy and quick transportation for all, and work as a barista? Then you say you got a lot of free time...?"

"I get the job done quickly, I'm known for my speed and quick access to dimension travel. That's why I'm the sole operator of the Yawrail for any quick travelling"

"I never really thought of that- that's really nice! Are we there yet?"

"Oh we're close, give me a minute" soon enough, they'd arrive at the city. Yawgate opens the door and lets Y/N out first, closing the Yawrail door when he got out of it.

"Well, where do you usually go when you're here?"

"Just taking a walk around, I don't usually decide for myself on where to go"

"Heavily dependent on them eh? It's not too bad getting around here on your own, it's quite neat to see just how vast and lively this place is"

"The thing is... I'm not really into interactions, I get quite nervous around unfamiliar faces"

"Hm, I understand. But everyone here is friendly and approachable, again if you ever need someone to accompany you, I'm always here. It gets boring without someone to talk to from time to time."

"I'll keep that in mind- where do you usually go in the city?"

"Just go on walks in the park or visit the resto near the cafe I work in! Starry Hill resto is pretty decent- and cheap, but the food is great despite the low cost!"

"I get that, I've gotten to order there before"

"Well, do you want to go there with me? I'm getting hungry"

"Sure!" Y/N smiled as Yawgate lead them to the restaurant, he'd open the door for them then they got inside. The place was lively, with points eating and the staff are hard at work. They sat at a table and got their order from a waiter.

"Is that all?"

"Yeah, that's all. Though could we get some iced water?"

"Of course, also Verfection said you should pay him that 20 bucks from that bet with Voixer"

"No."

"Oh, okay." the waiter turned around and left, Y/N looked at Yawgate with a skeptical expression.

"What was that...?"

"Uh, nothing, just a friend thing."

"Why do they know Verfection though?"

"He works here, as a waiter but he's not on shift today, so he's at Decon, painting something. Probably Voixer again"

"Oh okay! I didn't know he worked here- which other points have jobs here?"

"Signol sometimes puts up some little concerts in the city, usually paid to do so. Then uh, Compale would occasionally sell snow cones here. Using the ice of his world"

"Ew is that sanitary?"

"It is, and it's pretty special, it's actually really naturally sweet. His world was once a factory for chocolate, and the surrounding area had always been edible like candy."

"So in theory I should be able to bite into a tree and expect it to taste like chocolate or something?"

"Yes but why would you?"

"Why can't I?"

"Fair. Anyways there's also Arrolin's weekend job as a chef I'm another restaurant, where he serves special and spicy dishes. That restaurant gets crowded during that time, he really knows how to make a dish unique all with having a bit of spice into it. As for others, I'm not sure."

"That's really cool though! They never really mentioned to me about that"

"They usually prefer their privacy, or don't really think of it as something important to talk about. They usually let others talk about it"

A waiter returns with their food and glasses of iced water, still asking again for Verfection's money. Yawgate sighs and slips the money on their pocket.

"Fine. Make sure that gets to him or I'll personally find where you live and-"

"I'm not that greedy for money, relax."

"Good." The waiter left the table.

"What was that for?"

"Nothing." Yawgate's symbol flickered at them, and they started eating. They continued to talk about stuff and got to know each other better, it was a fun day for Y/N. After eating, they'd take a walk through the park and soon the needed to head home. Yawgate brings them back at the Yawrail stop where they were earlier, and waved goodbye as Y/N went back to their home. Perhaps they'll see Yawgate another day.
