Chapter 30

Cindy POV

Aiden was assembling the cot while I was preparing dinner. Aiden's phone vibrated and its screen flashed with a message.

"We know you know."

Nothing else. Goosebumps ran down my body and I called Aiden into the kitchen. Apparently my voice sounded a bit panicky because he came running to me. I shoved his phone towards him and when he read the message he lost all color.

"Great! Suppressed number," he cursed.

"Aiden, who could this be?"

"To be completely honest, I have absolutely no idea. My Darkweb enemies turned their backs on me when they realized I no longer posed a threat to them. And I didn't upset anyone else either. Maybe just a bad joke," he stated.

"I hope you're right, I just want to enjoy my pregnancy with you by my side."

"I want that too and I will stay by your side."

He took my face in his hands and kissed me softly on my lips. I kissed him back tenderly. I haven't been in the mood for sex at all lately and Aiden accepted it. He never bitched about it or got mad at me. On the contrary, he spoiled me and let me enjoy the pregnancy to the fullest.

"It smells wonderful in here. What's for lunch?" He asked.

"Lasagna," I giggled, knowing that's his favorite dish.

His eyes glittered like a child's and he kissed my cheek. He knelt in front of me and bowed to me with outstretched hands as if I were some god to worship.

"Oh thank you! Your generosity is appreciated, Your Highness."

"Aiden, you dummy! Stand up!" I laughed out loudly.

With a cheeky grin, he stood in front of me and kissed me a little harder. Aiden could be so incredibly affectionate, something I was still getting used to. He was usually passionate and wild, but since I got pregnant, he's showing a new side of himself. And I knew that he would make the perfect father.

Suddenly the oven beeped and shortly thereafter I got the lasagna out of the oven. Aiden was practically drooling like a dog when I cut up the lasagna and put his piece on a plate. He kept humming in between while chewing. At one point he faked an orgasm. I looked at him playfully with a raised eyebrow.

"Excuse me, I just had a foodgasm," he said kittenish.

"A foodgasm?" I burst into great laughter and couldn't stop anymore. He joined my laughter and together we had a wonderful day.

As always, I was tired pretty early and so we went to bed at 8pm. However, we couldn't sleep through the night because a call came from Marek in the middle of the night.

Amber and Jake were at Duskwood's lake and Amber had disappeared into the lake! Aiden and I didn't hesitate and got changed and drove to the lake. Once there, the Browns and Marek were there, and so was Mom. Jake was sitting on the floor, completely soaked, wrapped in a rescue blanket.

He hadn't really jumped into the lake?

Only now did I notice that the lake was shining turquoise and a howling of a wolf could be heard in the distance. Wasn't the wolf Amber's spirit animal? That would mean she was doing something with her new powers. I let the two agents enlighten me and was shocked by what I heard. She was pulled into the water by the lake, literally swallowed up.
