Chapter 12 – A mistake to correct.

No one's POV

Jade was sitting at the vanity, putting some final touches on her make up, thinking about all the wonderful things she'd do with and to Tori on their honeymoon, when the slamming of the door behind her jolted from her thoughts.

Turning around, she could see Cat, in her blue bridesmaid dress, who'd just entered the room, trying to catch her breath.

"Cat, why are you out of breath?"

"I did like you told and checked to see if everything was going fine with the guests being seated."

Jade briefly scrunched her face. "I only asked you to do that less, than 2 minutes ago. How did you do that so quickly?"

"I ran." Replied Cat, who was still breathing hard.

"You ran?"

"Yes, I ran."

"Like you did earlier, when I asked you to make sure the caterers had arrived."

"Yes."

"It's your wedding day, your second one at least and I want to make sure that everything went perfect and to make sure, I came back right away, to make sure that you didn't have to wait to ask me to do something else."

After a moment, a rather suspicious look formed on Jade's face. "Or to make sure I wasn't left alone for more than a few moments. So I couldn't...."

Jade then shooed Cat out. "Go and leave me."

"I can't." Cat said somewhat reluctantly.

Jade held up a fist. "You're going to look awfully stupid in the wedding photos, with a fat lip?"

The look of fear that quickly ran across Cat's face, made her feel so much better.

"OH."

"Leave. If it makes you feel better, then guard the door. Make sure no one can get to me."

Suddenly smiling, Cat ran out of the room and slammed the door behind her.

Jade then picked up her phone and dialed.

After 2 rings, came the uber cheerful voice of a certain Latina, she was about to marry.

"Hi Jade. Guess, what. I'm marrying my best friend today."

"Anyone I know." Answered Jade, trying to sound disinterested.

"A dark, pale skinned, smart, sexy, clever, evil, raven-haired goddess."

Unable to help smiling, Jade said. "Sounds like a real dark princess. She's a lucky girl."

"She is, so am I. The luckiest girl in the world. What's up?

"I'm getting ready here, about to marry the most perfect, bright, happy, beautiful girl in the world, when I noticed something."

"What's That?" Said Tori, her voice a bit more cautious.

"Cat, my maid of honor, doesn't seem to want to leave me alone, not for one second. I ask her to do something or to check on something and she zips off and zips back and if she can't make it, back right away, she sends someone else to....check on me."

"She's just being very attentive." Said Tori, in a voice that was slightly tinged with nervousness.

"Or making sure I'm not left alone, so I can't get into any...mischief." Retorted Jade, sounding quite annoyed.
