Chapter 5 – One simple word.

Jade's POV

After Tori left, I mused for while on the start of our "Relationship" and the rocky road it took until this very morning.

"I really was going to kill myself." I said aloud.

But she saved me. I've treated her like shit, practically from day one. I made love to her, the day of my wedding then promptly tore her heart out by marrying Beck, an hour later.

I was jolted out of my thoughts by the arrival of a young blonde nurse who greeted me with a saccharine smile. I guessed she was probably right out of nursing school, full of enthusiasm and ready to heal. In that case, her spirit hasn't quite been crushed by the medical profession yet.

"Hello Jade. How are you doing today?"

I merely glared at her, angered by the interruption. Has she greeted me with Mrs. Oliver, she'd get more than a glare. I was tempted to tell her to get lost, but I knew she'd leave and an older, meaner nurse, would simply replace her.

The glare worked and she seemed to sober up. "I'm here to take your vitals. Breakfast should be here in a few minutes. The doctor will stop by in an hour and unless there aren't any complications, you should be able to go home after lunch. Do you have any specific complaints?"

"I could complain about a lot of things." I said with a hint of anger of my voice. "But as far as feeling physically. I feel really sore. A little bit of actual pain, but not much."

She nodded and proceeded to take my pulse, blood pressure and temperature.

"Any bleeding?"

"Not that I'm aware of."

"The doctor will check that, when she gets here."

Thankfully the nurse finished quickly and departed and as promised my breakfast arrived a few minutes later. It was scrambled eggs, wheat toast, bacon a grapefruit, orange juice and milk. The orderly put it on the tray and rolled it over my bed. Wordlessly, he then departed. I can't say the food looked all that appetizing, but I began to eat anyway. At least for a few minutes I could focus on something else other than this pile of ruins, which is my life.

Once breakfast was done, my mind drifted back to the day of my wedding. I was getting ready, stressed as hell and yelling at anyone that had the misfortune of coming into my range of vision. Then Cat brought Tori into the room to help, which sent my temper off the charts.

"I told I didn't want anyone, Cat! Especially Her"

As soon as I bellowed that, Cat jumped behind Tori. The Latina on the other hand stood there with a stoic expression, as if my words hadn't affected her at all. I knew perfectly well it did.

Deep down, I wanted her there. No one else, just her. I covered it up with anger, as I knew what most likely would happen. I didn't want it to happen and at the same time I did. I was so afraid. At the time I thought it was because I was marrying Beck. That I was just nervous and afraid as I wanted the wedding to go smoothly. I was wrong. I was afraid, that I'd have to give Tori up only I didn't know it. I lashed out as usual, and as usual, Tori didn't leave. Things would be easier if Tori just left.

It was when she put her hands on my shoulders, and began to rub small circles all that tension and anger melted away. Another few seconds and it became more than that, as I felt myself giving in.
