Passing Out Dead Friends Like Candy

After Alec helped clary hide the terot card with the mortal cup inside, clary went to Diana's door. She knocked on it
"Diana?" She called out. Diana looked up and quickly stood up, hiding the pill bottle and moving to the door. She opened the door and clary looked at her sadly "how u doing?" She asked
"I'm good" Diana shrugged
"Diana" clary looked at her sadly
"No..I'm serious. Im fine" Diana told her as she walked into her room. Clary followed her and shut the door
"U forget that im ur twin sister and I know u better than anyone" clary told her "and it's because I know u and love u so much that I have to" she told her
"Have to what?" Diana asked. Clary started to move around Diana's room "what are u doing?" Diana asked "why are u going through my room?!"
"Im sorry. I know. Im sorry" clary told her as she dug around
"Clary!" Diana yelled. Clary moved to her bedside drawer and opened it, pulling out the ibuprofen bottle. She held it up
"Is this all u have?" She asked
"Omg" Diana scoffed "ur momming me! Are u serious clary?!" Diana yelled
"I know how bad this is ok...but I...I can't let u go down that path again. I can't...." She paused, taking a deep breath and trying to calm down "I can't lose u again...ok." She told her, holding in her tears.
"U didn't think to just....oh idk..ask?!" Diana yelled at her "instead of just going through my room!"
"I know u Diana. You would have lied to me"
"No I wouldn't have!" Diana yelled. A tear fell from clarys eye
"Ur lying right now." She told her, sniffling. Diana started to pace around, running her hands through her hair "I just wanna help u"
"Im fine clary!" Diana screamed at her "I've been fine for months! I've been clean for months!"
"Ur best friend just died." Clary told her
"Just say her name! Alice is dead. And for the record...she died...four years ago. She...has been dead for four years. That's how long that demon had been pretending to be her...and u wanna know the worst part...i I didn't even know" Diana's voice cracked slightly. Clary covered her mouth as a tears fell down her face
"Diana" she whispered
"It's fine." Diana assured her. "I'm just happy that thing is dead. That it can't mess with me or her family or anyone else any longer" she told her. She took a deep breath "but just because she's dead....doesn't mean I'm going to go off the rails" she spoke angrily. Clary looked at her guiltily
"Diana" she repeated
"Get out" Diana told her, pointing at the door
"Come on...talk to me"
"I said get out clary!" Diana yelled. Clary sighed before walking out the door, still holding the bottle in her hand. Diana followed her to the door. Once clary stepped into the hallway, she turned around to say something but Diana slammed the door in her face. Clary looked down, putting her head in her hands as a couple tears fell.
"U ok?" Jace asked, catching her attention. Clary looked up and shook her head. Jace came over and pulled her into a hug as tears fell from clarys eyes.

After jace and clary walked away from Diana's door, Alec came out from around the corner down the opposite end of the hallway. He walked over to Diana's door and stopped, looking at it, slightly nervous. He raised his hand and knocked lightly
"Go away clary!" Diana yelled
"I..I..it's not clary. It's me" Alec told her. Diana looked at the door as tears fell down her face. She moved over and pressed her hands on the door
"I'm fine, Alec. I just...I wanna be alone" she told him.
"O..ok. I just uh..I made u this drink. Issy said it's ur favorite from the kitchen so I uh...I just thought..." he was cut off by Diana opened the door. She had wiped her tears but she still looked a little puffy and alec wasn't stupid "hey" he whispered. Diana smiled slightly, stepping closer and alec held out the drink for her and Diana smiled slightly before taking it
"Thankyou" Diana told him softly. Alec smiled and nodded
"Uh yeah..sure." He told her. Diana looked at him, wondering why he was still there "oh right uh...I actually have something that I thought might cheer u up." He told her.
"Alec...I" Diana began to shake her head
"Just..let me show u" he interrupted her. "If ur not feeling it, u can come back to ur room, but...i think you'll like it" he told her. Diana sighed, looking down at the drink for a second before looking back up at Alec and nodding her head
"Ok" she whispered.
"Yeah? ok..follow me" Alec told her before starting to lead her away.

Alec opened a door and followed Diana into a room. She looked around her to see music instruments all over the room, including a large piano in the middle. She smiled
"I thought u might like to know the institute has a piano" Alec told her, walking over and standing behind the piano.
"The institute...a place filled with super humans that kill demons for a living...has a music room?" Diana asked, surprised as she sat down on the bench in front of the piano.
"Yeah. Some people like to come here in their free time" Alec answered.
"U know...." Diana smiled, looking up at Alec "ur not that bad when ur being yourself instead of what everyone else wants u to be" she told him. Alec smiled slightly and moved around the piano and pointed to the spot next to her
"can I..."
"Yea. Go ahead" Diana nodded, scooting over so Alec could sit next to her. Diana put her fingers on the keys and thought for a moment before dropping her hands and sighed "what's wrong?"
"I..uh...I don't know what to play. My mind is completely blank" Diana told him. Alec thought for a second
"What was Alice's favorite song?" He asked. Diana looked down.
"We'll uh..." she sighed "its a song called "snow on the beach" but uh...I guess it wasn't really her favorite"
"What do u mean?" Alec asked.
"Alice died 4 years ago. That's how long that demon had been pretending to be her. So uh...I guess that wasn't really her favorite song after all"
"Four years? The demon was spying on u for four years?" Alec asked and Diana nodded "how did it even know u existed?" He asked
"I..idk Alec. I didn't get the chance to ask" Diana told him as she looked down at the piano. Alec looked down guiltily
"I'm sorry...I shouldn't have..,"
"It's ok" Diana interrupted him. She looked up and over at him "I'd like to know the answer to the, what I'm sure are, dozens of questions u have about all of this but...,it's too late. It's dead, Alice is dead, and...it's over. Not to mention, we got the cup, so...everything's good, right?" She shrugged. Alec nodded
"But..,"
"Alec..,I said it's fine. Ok?" Diana interrupted him again. Alec sighed, nodding his head.
"I'm sorry"
"Stop being sappy, Alec"
"No. Not for that. I mean..I am for that...but...that's not what I'm talking ab"
"Then what are u sorry for?"
"For being a jerk" Alec told her, catching Diana by surprise. "It was wrong of me to be so hard on u and clary...so.... I'm sorry" Diana smiled teasingly "oh no" Alec whispered as he rolled his eyes. Diana put her hand behind her ear
"Im sorry. I I didn't quite catch that"
"U heard me just fine" Alec stated as he looked away from her
"I just need to be sure....did u just say"
"I take it back right now"
"That ur sorry?" Diana finished. Alec rolled his eyes, trying not to smile. Diana let out a laugh as she pointed at his face "ha! And I made u smile. We are on a roll, Alec Lightwood." She laughed.
"U know...I was trying to have a serious conversation" alec told her as she poked his arm as she laughed "...and u turned it into...stop it" he smacked her hands, making her stop. Diana laughed and alec looked down, chuckling slightly. He looked up as Diana stopped laughing but still smiled at him. The two looked at eachother for a moment, their smiles fading as they looked in eachothers eyes and then down at their lips and back up at their eyes. The two started to lean in slowly and Alec slowly moved his hand to Diana's cheek. Diana felt his hand on her cheek and started to have flashbacks of the man who kidnapped her, placing his hand on her cheek. Diana gasped, scooting back, away from Alec as she breathed heavily "u ok?" Alec asked.
"Uh...yeah.." Diana paused, standing up and stepping back away from him "I..just...uh..."
"Diana" Alec stood up and moved closer to her "ur shaking. What's wrong?" He asked, moving closer
"Stop" Diana put her hand out in front of her making Alec stop. She sighed "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry"
"It's ok"
"No. It's not"
"Yeah it is...I mean..if u don't wanna kiss me...that's fine" Alec assured her awkwardly
"No. Alec....I want to kiss u" Diana told him, catching Alec by surprise. "I just....can't" she told him. Alec looked at her confused
"Why?" He asked. Diana looked at him nervously for a moment before the two started to hear an alarm going off throughout the institute.
"What is that?" Diana asked
"Idk. Come on" Alec told her and the two walked to the main room.
The two entered the main room and joined the others to see on the institutes defenses, there was someone coming towards the building.
"There's something outside the perimeter" Jace stated, looking at the screen
"I told u...." Alec started but Jace interrupted him
"Don't say it" he told him.
"What's happening?" Clary asked
"Looks like someone's trying to break in" Issy told her.
"Could be the circle" Jace suggested as the three lighthoods grabbed their gear and started heading for the door.
"Told u so" Alec told him
"Too soon" Jace answered. Diana and clary shared a look at the screen and between one another before grabbing their swords and going with the others.
The group walked outside with their weapons drawn as they looked around until they saw a shadow of someone holding someone else "don't move!" Jace called out
"Drop what ur holding. Put ur hands up" Jace commanded as he pointed an arrow at him.
Clary and Diana came over and looked to see Raphael come out of the shadows....holding simons dead body"
"Omg, simon" clary panicked.
