Ivä walked back to her families Mauri and cried in Tsireya's arms. She knew Neteyam was right. She was angry with herself for being so blind. Now Neteyam is mad at her, something she never thought would happen.
"I-I-I'm such a t-terrible person." Ivä stuttering while crying.
"No you're not," Tsireya said rubbing Ivä's back.
"You just did the wrong thing." Tsireya said quietly.
Tsireya didn't want to pick sides, but she also knew Neteyam had every right to be mad. But Tsireya would never tell that to Ivä. Ever.
After a while, Ivä calmed down. Surprisingly, she didn't wake up everyone else. Tsireya stayed with Ivä for a while until she was better.
Eventually, they both got tired and started to lay down.
"Thank you reya. For staying with me." Ivä said looking down.
"No problem. Anything for my sister." Tsireya said smiling softly.
Then she left to her room. Ivä laid in her bed staring at the ceiling. Tsireya got her mind off of the situation when they were together, but now that she's alone, that's all she can think of.
Ivä blinked a couple of times to stop the tears from coming out. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
She needs to stop thinking of it and go to sleep.
And that she did.
—
Ivä dreaded waking up the next morning. She didn't want to see Neteyam. Usually , she's one of the firsts ones up. But today, she was the last person to get out of bed.
Tsireya knocked on Ivä's door quietly.
"Come in." Ivä said numbly.
"Hey.. mother is worried about you. Why aren't you up?" Tsireya said softly.
"I'm fine. I'll be up in a minute." Ivä said sitting up.
Ivä wasn't fine. She didn't want to get up at all. She didn't want to walk out of her Mauri and see Neteyam. How could she ever forget about last night? But she needed to get up. She needed to act like everything was fine. She didn't want her parents, or even Anoung, to find out that her and Neteyam fought. Ivä didn't want any attention on the situation.
Ivä got up and got dresses. She looked into the mirror and looked at her tear stained cheeks. She quickly looked away. If she would've looked longer, she would've cried again.
She practiced on how she was going to fake her mood. She quickly cleaned her face so it didn't look like she'd been crying. She practiced smiling and greeting her parents.
Once she finally got everything down, she took a deep breath and walked out of her room.
She smiled to her parents and then to Anoung.
"How did I get up before you?" Anoung said eating his food.
"I don't know, I was just tired." Ivä lied.
"We were very worried, dear." Ronal said looking towards Tonowari, who nodded in agreement.
"Sorry mother, I was just tired today. But I am ok now." Ivä said looking down.
She hated lying to her parents, but she didn't even want to bring up what happened.
"Well now that everyone is up, why don't you guys go hang out with your friends, I'm sure they're waiting on you." Tonowari suggested.
No. Anything but that. Ivä thought to herself. She'd rather go talk to a seashell than go see anybody.
But of course, she has to play it safe. They all nod their heads and exit the Mauri.
