The rest of their training and preparation for the day went much more like they had planned it, the trio wrapping up the day with some study from the Watcher about the races of Darkness they might be facing in the next War of Balance. Study that found itself drawing to a close as, with another winter storm making its liquid music against the window, both Nikeera and Samantha began competing to see who could yawn the biggest.
"Okay, okay, I can take a hint," Jared said as Nikeera's jaw cracked with a massive yawn that seemed to go on forever. He closed the Watcher with a firm crack and stood to put it back on top of the dresser.
"Enough of that." And watched as the two continued yawning, both looking definitely sleepy. "Well, well, well. Is it bedtime, ladies?"
"It's been a long day, Jared," Nikeera said sleepily, Samantha nodding in agreement even as the griffon yawned yet again.
"Fair enough. We can call it."
As the two women prepared themselves for bed, Jared found himself standing beside the window, looking out into the darkness through the rain. As it had previously, his new eye let him peer through the darkness as if it were noon day. And he nodded in satisfaction to see the quad empty of lean figures in long coats.
He had suspected the cholim would furiously search the city after discovering their war master, their necromancers, and a full platoon of soldiers dead by the sword downtown, a sure sign that someone wielding the kind of weapons that were currently popular on Ethaeron, had cut them down. And only somebody from one of the races of Light would have a reason to. Simple deducing from there should've led them to realize that he had returned to Earth, triggering another manhunt for him.
It was the reason he had reminded Nikeera to check her wards. And why he now stood at the window vigilant, staring into the darkness with his new eye. The cholim may not be there on the quad now. But they still lurked in the city and it was just a matter of time before they came looking for them.
"Jared?" Nikeera called from the bed.
Turning, Jared felt a brow lift to find a whole lot of leg showing on both of them.
"No baggy shorts tonight?" he asked, suddenly very aware of his own baggy shorts.
"We thought we'd try something different," Samantha said with a playful smile.
Nikeera's smile, on the other hand, was pure sensuality, making Jared silently groan. The elf woman would be testing the boundaries of their new understanding this evening and he feared sleep would be hard to come by!
Resigned, he turned off the light to avoid getting too much of an eyeful from either woman, which would put him in a dangerously vulnerable state of his own, and carefully climbed onto the bed.
"Here," Nikeera said as two sets of hands guided him to his spot sandwiched between them, the tuathan on his right and the griffon on his left as per usual.
Feeling her already on her side in anticipation of how she wanted to be cuddled, Jared turned his body to spoon her, Nikeera sighing with delight as his skin touched hers. Then, as soon as he was down, Samantha was spooning him from behind, using a hand on his hip to pull herself snug against him.
Guiding hands and moving legs then spent the next moment or two carefully tangling their limbs together. Only then did both relax, completely surrounding him.
It took only a single motion with his hand as he drew it up to put it around Nikeera to discover she had switched her baggy shorts for a pair of those delicate panties she had picked up in the lingerie shop. Thankfully his shorts protected him from their more dangerous attributes, or it would've been a very long night, indeed.
