Danielle's head lifted as she heard the door open and close.

She sent you a bright smile as she saw you standing near the door, your gaze already resting on her.

"Hey, babe. How was your day?" She asked and you breathed out a heavy sigh before answering.

"Not that good."

"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, baby." She said as she put her phone down. "Are you okay?"

You shrugged your shoulders wordlessly and she frowned.

"Can I do anything to make you feel any better?"

"Can I have a hug?"

Her eyes lit up, sparkling brightly as a smile tugged at her lips.

"Of course." She happily said before getting up from the sofa to make her way over to you. "Come here, my girl."

You breathed out a heavy sigh as she put her arms around you and pulled you in for a comforting hug.

You put your arms around her tight and laid your cheek on her shoulder as your eyes slipped shut.

A contented sigh fell from your lips as her warm and loving embrace soothed you, making your worries fade far away as she held you.

"I'm sorry you had a rough day. But I've got you now. You know you're safe with me."

"I know."

"Is there anything I can do to help even more? Maybe make you some food or run you a bath?"

"No. I just want you to hold me." You said and she tightened her grip on you a little. "Just hold me and don't let go."

"Okay, darling. I won't." She said as she began to rub your back.

She pulled back a few seconds later, just to caress your cheek and send you the most beautiful smile.

"You okay?"

You nodded.

"Better now that I've got you."

She kissed your forehead before pulling you in for another warm hug.

"I love you. You know that, right? I love you so very much." She said as she put her head on yours.

"I love you too, Danielle; so very much." You spoke in return and continued holding onto her, feeling much better and all because of her.
