you're sick

Danielle couldn't help but chuckle as you wrinkled your nose in disgust over the medication that you had just taken another dose of.

She placed the cap back on the bottle before putting it on the nightstand and then placed her hand on your arm as you groaned over how unwell you felt.

You've come down with a bad cold.

You keep sneezing, have a bad cough and a terrible headache, you're running a fever, and have no energy whatsoever.

All you want to do is sleep the entire day away and hope that someday soon, you'll feel better again.

"Are you okay?" Danielle asked as she brushed her fingers along your arm.

Her touch was soothing but it made you shiver and she had you lay back down so she could tuck you in under the blankets.

A tickle appeared in your throat a few seconds later and you started to cough into your elbow, feeling your chest ache with every hack.

"Oh, it's okay, baby." She comforted upon watching your eyebrows furrow in discomfort when you stopped coughing a moment later.

She reached for your water bottle and brought it to your lips for you to take a few sips, hoping the cold drink would help soothe your sore throat and help get rid of that tickle.

"There you go. That better?" She asked as she tucked you back in, bringing the blankets up to your shoulders.

"I guess so." You said before closing your tired eyes. "I don't feel good. I want to feel better already."

"I know," Danielle replied with a sad tone in her voice. "I wish I could make you feel better. If I could, I'd take this icky cold away from you so you'd feel much better."

You opened your eyes and managed to crack a smile as you looked into her eyes.

"Thank you for taking care of me."

"You're my girl, it's what I'm supposed to do." She reminded you as she brushed your hair away from your forehead. "You'd do the same for me."

"In a heartbeat."

She kissed your forehead before gently pressing her hand against it.

"Are you comfortable? Do you need another blanket?"

"No, I'm starting to feel warm." You whined and kicked the blankets off.

Danielle wasn't surprised to hear you say that.

You've still got a slight fever and it's normal to feel hot one second and cold the next.

"I'm worried about you. You haven't eaten anything today. I think I should make you some soup."

"Can it wait? I'm sleepy." You mumbled as you closed your eyes again.

"I know you're sleepy, my love. But you need to eat and I think the broth would help your throat a lot."

You weakly shook your head, feeling too exhausted to eat anything right now.

She was concerned but dropped it and agreed to wait until later because she knew you were just too tired to eat right now.

"Okay, I'll hold off until later. Just get some rest." She said before laying down beside you.

She gently brushed her fingers through your hair and watched you breathe.

"I love you and I'm right here if you need anything. I hope you feel better soon." She whispered.

"I'm cold again." You mumbled before shivering, so close to falling asleep.

Danielle covered you up again before scooting closer to you and putting her arms around you.

"What if you get sick?" You sleepily asked.

"Shh," She whispered. "I don't care about that. Go to sleep. It's okay."

She watched you fall asleep, continuing to lay close to you.

Her schedule starts getting crazy again in the next few days and it probably wouldn't be a good time for her to get sick... but she didn't care at all if she did.

She just wanted you to feel better and she'd do anything to help.
