GREEN

Your long-forgotten smile appears as bright as ever at the mere sight of me. I watch your friends faces seem as confused as I am. You ask how I am and what I've been up to. I respond to generic answers, unwilling to even slightly open the door you slammed shut so many years ago. Still, you remind me of what it was like before the storms tore apart the structures of my hope. In a way, I sorta welcome the distraction.

YELLOW

With great caution, you were quest the familiar closeness. Your arms embrace me but only after you ask for permission. Letting go has never felt so much like a goodbye. I mentioned my plans, and you were just yours accordingly. Together on our old stomping grounds, I find peace in your presence. The distance between us no longer feels infinite. I still manage to throw you off your guard, but you don't wanna battle with a joke or knowing look. Maybe really have simply grown up.

RED

Your body stiffens as we reach our vehicles. I offer you an opportunity to meet again when I notice your smile has faded. You fumble around with your words as you avoid eye contact. Had it not been for the quiet of the emptied parking lot, I would've heard your whispered response.

"No."
