It starts out slow. You climb out of your shell, terrified of the world around you, but you decide to keep moving.

You crawl from place to place, expanding your horizons as you try new foods. You meet friends who join you on what seems to be the never-ending path to perfection. You roam over the fallen logs full of stories of those who came before you, choosing to learn from their mistakes as you continue forward.

At times, you feel weak like the pieces of your life aren't coming together the way you expected so you pause, taking time to rest and reflect on how far you've come.

You watch as those friends you accumulated risk their lives choosing a separate path, many of them losing the battle. Although it was never your decision, you grieve the what ifs that might have saved them. Then you push yourself to move on.

Eventually, you arrive at a clearing where all the opportunities you waited for awaiting you. You wrap up in the truths your journey has given you. These truths shield you as you prepare for the next step. The lies you used to tell yourself try to infiltrate the protection as does the traumatic memories from long ago, but neither succeeds. When you are deemed to be ready, the shell of pain and insecurity cracks, and you burst into the light, spreading your wings and learning to fly like the beautiful butterfly that you are.
