Scholars and students alike are wary when the roommate duo is present anywhere in the Akademiya and within close proximity to one another. It is customary for the two to erupt into loud, uncontrollable arguments while everyone else attempts to work peacefully.
When they are spotted in the House of Daena, people are taken aback by the hall's deafening silence. They work together in harmony, the Scribe reading his book and the architect working on what appears to be a blueprint.
The architect clacks his pencil down. He waves his hands back and forth, trying to thaw his frozen digits. The room has been unusually cold today, his predicament relatable.
People in the room are nervously watching as the Scribe closes his book with a soft thud, bracing themselves for the inevitable fight. He sets the book down on the table and moves closer to the architect beside him, the room holding its breath waiting for one of them to blow up first.
Instead, Alhaitham gently takes Kaveh's hands in his own and pulls them close to his mouth. He blows warm breaths onto Kaveh's fingers until they are completely warmed up.
Without saying anything, they return to what they were doing, unconcerned and perhaps unaware of how affectionate the display appeared to others.
"I'm sorry," one student says to another, "I thought they were supposed to hate each other?" They sound almost offended at not being able to personally witness one of the legendary fights they'd heard about so many times.
The roommates are oblivious to the whispers. Alhaitham will occasionally put down his book, and Kaveh will automatically surrender his fingers, ready to have them warmed up.
