gxg, sub billie (sorry not sorry)
3rd person pov
billie hated valentines day. it was ironic enough, seeing that she was in a romantic relationship, but it was true. She believed it was stupid, spending one day to appreciate and love your partner, when you should be doing that every day of the year.
In previous years, she would walk into stores and pharmacies, scowl at the overpriced teddy bears and the heart shaped boxes of chocolates and the flowers, filling the stores with a reminder that she is alone. She would scowl at men, holding their girlfriends hands, hating the way most of them put little effort into their relationships. She'd go home, stuff herself with chocolate she had purchased, and fall asleep watching countless cringey rom coms.
This year, things were slightly different, and Billie was thrilled to find out that her girlfriend, y/n shared the same opinions about Valentine's Day. They decided to skip valentine's day, which worked to their favor considering they were both working that day. now, their valentines day would be on the 28th, exactly two weeks after. it was simply a special date night, dressing up a little more than normal, going out a somewhere a bit more expensive.
billie particularly loved this idea, as she stepped into the store, and scanned over the flower section. fresh, colorful, flowers filled green buckets and left a floral aroma in the air. these weren't week old, overpriced flowers. these were new flowers, rightly priced since no big holiday was coming up.
billie's eyes looked over the flowers, trying to pick out the perfect ones for her lover.
She eyed the roses, such a classic.
The crimson color would look so perfect with... billie couldnt say. A small blush crept up her face, vivid scenarios starting to fill her mind about what the evening was to bring to the women.
She decided on the tulips, pink and gentle; perfect for y/n. She picked them up, placing them in the small shopping basket hanging from the inside of her elbow. She began to leave, turning back to look at the assortment of flowers again. The roses looked back at her, taunting her.
Hastily, she grabbed the stupid flowers.
She would make good use of them later.

The couple sat together at a small restaurant, one of their shared favorites. The conversation was light, the din of the room was enough to keep the silence comfortable. a bouquet of tulips separated them; the ones billie had purchased, of course. y/n loved them, so much she asked the waiter to put them in a small vase so she can look at them during their meal. it was small things like these that made billie fall in love with y/n over and over again.
Billie kept looking up at y/n , sneaking small glances at the woman whenever she could. Her stomach chruned, but not from the food she was eating. It was delicious (as always), but the gleam in y/ns eyes under the soft lighting made billie feel like the organs inside her were doing backflips. y/n would be lying if she said hers weren't either. The candlelit dinner made her feel so grown, yet like a teenager on her first date. She loved being with billie, soaking in her presence.
Billies hand reached over the table to grab y/ns, their fingers interlacing.
"You make me so happy," y/n said, chewing back a smile. Billie let it happen, cheeks dimpled and pearly whites showing as she looked at the woman in front of her with such adoration. She couldnt agree more. y/n had made billie happier than she had ever been. She brought their hands to her face, kissing y/n's knuckles softly. She put them down on the table again, placing her other hand over them. The gesture was sweet, making y/ns heart swell. The evening couldnt get any better.
