"Over here." Crescent crouched down and inspecting a patch of kingsfoil in front of her. Spider hadn't said a word to her since they'd left the old lab and it was starting to worry her. She wasn't exactly sure what to do. No part of her wanted to upset Spider, it was her fault for letting herself consider those feelings she had recently discovered. But there was still Neteyam to think about. There was no guarantee she wouldn't see him again, especially if they had found evidence of where they were. And not to mention the years she'd put into creating an avatar.

It couldn't be all for nothing, right?

Spider came over, helping her harvest the kingsfoil. He didn't look at her, working quietly. She regretted so many things, wishing she could take back the last hour and just do it over. If only she could somehow make their avatars ready just a few months faster, they could link with them and get out of this mess.

Crescent couldn't take the silence anymore, "Please don't be mad at me, okay? I'm just overwhelmed and distressed and I should have--"

"Cress stop," he put his hand on her shoulder, causing her to pause and look at him, "I'm not mad at you, I promise."

She placed the kingsfoil in the container that Dr. Flynn had given her, "Then why do I feel like you're upset?"

"Because I am," he stated plainly, "but not with you. With myself. I shouldn't have moved on you like that, I'm sorry."

She shook her head, "No, it's not your fault. We both just ... got carried away. Can we just forget about it?"

He looked conflicted, but he nodded, "Yeah, of course."

Crescent blew out a breath of relief. Something was still off, but they were able to enter a more comfortable silence rather than an awkward one. The events of the past few weeks had overwhelmed her and she wasn't completely sure that she was thinking right.

Something was becoming increasingly more clear to her though. Her and Spider, they'd always been able to rely on each other, and she was starting to appreciate it more and more.

Crescent thought back to one of the many times he had proven to be the most reliable of anyone else she knew.

Crescent was thirteen and for the past couple days she'd felt immense pain in her lower back and abdomen and she wasn't really sure why. She had tried to shake it off and refrained from telling anyone. They all already thought she was weak so complaining about pain wasn't something she was going to do.

She regretted that decision that night though. Crescent woke up that night with worse pain then ever and a pool of blood between her legs. Her eyes widened in horror as she realized what was happening, grabbing a damp cloth to stop the constant flow of blood.

Crescent rolled the sheets from her bed in a tight ball, trying to hide the embarrassing stain. She had no idea what to do. She had tried to ask Neytiri about it before but the woman would barely talk to her and just waved her off, mumbling that Na'vi and humans were not the same. And she was too embarrassed to tell her dad and there were rarely any female scientists around at the lab.

She kept the cloth tightly between her legs as she hurried into the bathroom, digging through various cupboards and drawers to try and find supplies. She knew she'd seen a box of feminine hygiene supplies before and eventually she found it.

Luckily Norm had given her the basic knowledge and overview of having a menstrual cycle, but not enough to ward off the panic that gripped her stomach. She sat on the ground of the bathroom, curling up into a ball to try and ward of the cramps that set in.
