Chapter 11

About a month has passed now and me and Steve couldn’t be happier. We have gone on so many dates and he even bought me a promise necklace.

We practically do everything together, Soda is a little jealous that Steve hangs out with me more then him now. Steve sometimes calls me from work just to tell me he loves me and misses me. Soda gets tired of him doing this and will sometimes come and hang up the phone.

Today is a very big day because I applied for a job at the DX and today I will see if I got the job or not.

“Ellie, come here,” Darry called from the living room so I finished brushing my hair and then went out to the living room.

“It’s for you,” Darry said while handing me the phone. I grabbed the phone from Darry.

“Hello” I said in a nice voice.

“Hello is this Miss Elanor Curtis” said the person on the other end of the line.

“Why yes it is” I made sure to keep using my nice polite voice.

“I would like to inform you that you got the job at the DX, you will work the same hours as your brother for the rest of the summer.” said the other person at the end of the line.

“Oh wow thank you so much” I said in a cheerful voice trying my best to hold in how I existed.

“Of course Miss Curtis you will start tomorrow” the person on the other side of the line said before hanging up the phone.

“I GOT THE JOB!!” I yelled at the top of my lungs so everyone in the house could hear.

“YOU DID!!” Both Soda and Steve yelled as they came running out of Soda’s room.

“Yep, I sure did,” I said with a big smile.

“Yay, now we can spend all day together” Steve said while picking me up and swinging me around.

The entire gang went to the drive-in that night to celebrate. Me and Steve went in his car and the rest of the gang just snuck in. Me and Steve cuddled in his car the entire time and fed each other popcorn. Everytime Dal saw us do this he would say “ok that’s enough, we know you love each other,” Me and Steve would just laugh and Steve would tell Dally “yes we do love each other” and he would look down at me and smile. After the movie was over Steve took me home, and gave me a kiss before I got out of the car. 

I walked inside the house and went to get ready for bed. I took my makeup off and put my pj’s on, and after saying goodnight to my brothers I got into my bed. I layed there in bed and tried to go to bed but couldn’t, so I got up to see if anyone else was awake. Two-Bit and Soda were sitting in the living room watching TV.

“Why are you guys awake,” I asked them while going and sitting down next to Two-Bit.

“Mickey’s on” Two-Bit replied without looking up from the TV.

“Why are you awake El,” Soda asked.

“I can’t sleep again,” I replied while yawning.

I then laid my head on Soda’s shoulder and we both fell asleep like that for the rest of the night.
