Chapter 26

Light was getting there, a proud accomplished smirk planted on his face. Of course, you were oblivious to it though, you were in too much of a daze to realise. Even if you did, you wouldn’t even want to leave him anyway.

You would think that he wouldn’t notice the way your e/c eyes were painted with panic or how low and shaky your voice was or how your lips were turned downwards during the whole ordeal or how you became tense whenever the imposter was brought up. He noticed everything to the littlest detail. He even knew you were awake most of the time. Light was satisfied knowing how you became uneasy just thinking of him leaving you.

“Just a little more, just endure this for a little more y/n.....you won't even be able to think without me soon enough”.

Reaching the table, you were already regretting not skipping breakfast. Your mom was unusually happy, humming, giggling and all that shit. What made you uneasy was that Sayu was giving you weird looks as well-she wasn’t, you were overthinking it. To make it worse, she hid her phone in her chest so you couldn’t delete the pictures.

~At L’s Hotel room~

Soichiro came into the room, his hair had gotten much more grey compared to before and he looked quite skinny, his cheeks had sunken and he was very pale.“Ryuzaki, it’s as you thought. Leaders of several countries have convened and they want the real L to appear on TV.”

L's expression failed to waver as sipped his tea, “That would be the most right and reasonable choice. Well, we still have three days, so let’s think of a way to prepare all that. It would annoy me if I were killed by someone who had jumped on Kira’s bandwagon.”
All the task force members were stunned.

“You mean...” the detective spoke.

“Yes, there’s a possibility that this Kira is a fake. No, we could call him the second Kira”

“The second kira?” All the detectives breathed out.

“Why do you think there is a second kira?” Aizawa asked, “please explain to us”

“First of all, there are the predicted victims. They were used to convince the TV station employees that he is kira. Those two women were featured only in women’s magazines and on daytime talk shows. The real kira has no need to prove himself with such insignificant people. But in the second Kira’s view, he couldn’t use a criminal that the real kira might kill before his prediction”. He finished.

“Hmm Ryuzaki, what are the chances that there is a second kira?” the chief asked.

“This time it’s more that a seventy percent chance” he answered. “I don’t like the way he does things, it’s not like Kira”

“How?” Matsuda asked, trying to keep up.

“Kira has always avoided innocent victims, aside from those who have tried to catch him. If we can catch one Kira I think we’ll get a hint as to how we can catch the other.” He explained.

He turned to face Soichiro, “Mr Yagami. May I ask your son and l/n to cooperate in this investigation?” L asked noticing the glare the detective was giving him.

“Does that mean they’re no longer suspects?” Soichiro asked, hoping for good news. All to have his jokes crushed by what L would say.

“No, I can’t say they have not been cleared, but I could use their deductive skills”.

“So you want to keep an eye on them?” The detective spoke surprisingly calm about the matter.

“Mh, having them at arms length would be fine as well”
