She Wants To Talk To You

I woke up the next morning upbeat and ready to actually enjoy Halloween. I smoothed my hair into its unkempt bun, found my trademark headband of bunny ears and paired it with my suggestive ‘Bunny At Play’ graphic tee. The pink t-shirt, though a little bit too tight for my taste did wonders for my small torso and wide hips, I finally looked smaller than I felt.

It was a great feeling.

Partnered with a shower of candy at my school from various friends, guys finally showing me attention for my tight shirt and a fun half day in general---I felt fine. The night before was in the far corners of my mind and I thoroughly enjoyed my Halloween morning. For such a lame non-costume I actually received more compliments than I expected. Austin even dared to give me a look over and a suggestive, “You can play at my bunny ranch whenever you like.”

Natalie definitely gave me the evil eye and then promptly covered it up with a smile as she ran her hands over her tight cat-suit, “Yeah you look great Crystal.”

Shawna slipped up and called her a bitch, to which she bit her lip and looked away. Ashley pretended to trip her from behind and offered Austin a nice little birdie.

I shook my head at all of them and ushered Shawna and Ashley away. Our plan for the night was to check out Screams, a theme park in Waxachie Texas. We were more than prepared to smuggle booze and get our scare on for sure and I had hoped it would happen that way.

Unluckily for me nothing ever goes as planned.

Freshly relieved of my waitressing for the day I walked into my house in high spirits. Cruella De vil stopped me before I could mount the stairs.

“Crystal?” she softly asked.

I twisted my body gently to the right and peered down at her, she stood at the bottom of the stairs in a rather jazzy Pocahontas get up. “What’s up?”

“Can you do me a teensy favor?”

Don’t you know that her favors are never ‘teensy’ at all?”

Thirty minutes later later I stood in the pissiest mood I’d ever had in my lovely mothers front room. My renegade of bratty sibs stood behind me playing pranks on each other.

My night was officially screwed. My stepmothers favor had been a direct affront to my pre-requested expenditures. Suddenly, oh so suddenly her and my dad had decided that they wanted to attend an extravagant costume party in downtown Dallas and they wanted me to baby sit.

And take their children trick or treating.

Of course I’d lied through my teeth about promising to take the little trolls, hell I wasn’t about to take them trick or treating. I was going to scare the hell out of them instead, because that’s how much I loved them.

To tiny itty bitty pieces.

“Mama can you please…” I folded my arms against my chest and glared into the hallway, I could see her slight waist and large hips as she crouched down to tie Mina’s shoelaces.

Mina had her own arms crossed and her tiny head tilted to the side in irritation. Her sandy curls pulled up into a high side pony tail laid to the T, tilted along with her. Dramatic green eye shadow highlighted her pale white eyelids, and her betty boop eyes were rimmed in black. The rest of her ensemble consisted of bright red lipstick, large hoop earrings, a green half shirt over a pink tank top, a grotesque pink miniskirt and mint green tights to match her half-shirt. Her shoes? Black combat  boots.

What the hell?

If that was a costume then it was definitely horrible, I’d thought Jennas puke worthy fairy get up and Max’s Harry Potter costume were horrible. But Mina’s took the cake.
