** Monday April 3rd, 2017 - baby 1 day old **

- Taylors Pov -

I'm not allowed to carry heavy things, so Joe carries the car seat into our house before getting the bags. Estelle seems like she is just waking up, so I unbuckle her and lift her into my arms.

"Hi baby girl. We are home. Mommy and daddy have your room all set up. And we have made sure all the scary things are hidden away and the baby proofing are overdone. I know you can't crawl or get into stuff yet, but daddy got paranoid and started it in the middle of the night" I coo her. Everyone has that special voice they use when they speak to children, clearly, I have it too.

Taking her with me into the living room I stop in front of the big windows giving us a view of the garden. "Out there we can build a playset for you with a big slide and all the fancy stuff. Maybe both a straight and a swirly slide, that would be fun. And we can make swings and a playhouse too. We can teach you to ride a bike in the driveway and ski in the winter. We are going to spend lots of time with you even when we are busy with work, you're the most important thing in our lives Estelle" when I kiss her forehead I realize it was a mistake because her eyes open and her nose scrunch before she starts to cry.

"Oh no baby girl, I didn't mean to wake you. Mommy is a meanie, isn't she? Waking you from your milk coma" I try to bounce her a little like I've seen Blake does to settle Inez or James, but Estelle starts to whine louder.

"What's wrong?" Joe says as he comes over. "I think I accidentally woke her" I say and head over to the couch.

"Is it a diaper change cry, boob cry or just crying?" He says and scratch the back of his neck. The man has read so many baby books that he certainly knows more than I do. I've done some light reading, but mostly I've just stored away what I've seen my friends do over the years and asked Blake a million questions. Joe on the other hand has read several books, articles and used those apps for expecting parents. He showed me earlier that he downloaded a new one to track a baby week for week during its baby stage.

"How am I supposed to know Joe? I can't read her mind" I hold her head close to my chest and stroke her back. Please go back to sleep Estelle, I'm too tired for this. I've only gotten an hour or so sleep in the last 24 hours, so my mind is pretty fussy.

"But when in doubt always offer the boob right?" I lay her on the couch for a moment before pulling off my shirt and unclipping the nursing bra so I can get my boob out. Modesty is the last thing I want to think about right now, the boobs will be free a lot until she doesn't need to nurse anymore.

I do what the nurse showed me and latch her on. It takes two tries this time because I hear that clicking sound she told me was wrong. Getting her unlatched to do it properly was easier than I thought, I just pushed on the side of my boob to release the vacuum in her mouth, and I was good to go with changing positions.

She starts to suck, and the room gets quiet again. "That's going to be our mantra for the forceable future. "When in doubt offer the boob" Joe nods and says he is going to go unpack the stuff we brought to the hospital.

I tried to read some stuff about what to bring to the hospital, but clearly we overpacked. The only thing I really needed for myself was a change of clothes to go home in, toiletries to feel a little fresher this morning and my purse with the stuff that's usually in there. Everything else they gave to me there anyway and we didn't stay long. The gowns where uncomfortable, but it gave easy access to both my boobs and vagina, so it served a purpose in that way. For Estelle we really only needed the stuff to bring her home in.

I know not every hospital gives new parents and laboring moms everything that we got, but our hospital provided most of what we needed. Since I didn't know that beforehand, I brought things like diapers which I didn't need at all, we actually got a few with us home.
