Shade 11: Drunk

"I can't believe you went behind my back like this!"

"I'm sorry Mordred, Please! Let me explain..."

Mordred sighed and looked up at his queen. It wasn't the fact that she'd done what she did, it was that she didn't tell him, that's what hurt the most... didn't she trust him?

Reevena took hold of Mordred's hand "Please..." She pleaded "I did this for us... for the kingdom..."

"What do you mean?"

"The knights... I understand that they're not exactly jumping for joy over the fact that we killed their king and stole their throne..."

"And..."

"I needed something... Someone... to ensure that the knights would stay loyal to us, to the kingdom..."

Mordred let another sigh escape his clenched jaw "And you think Lancelot is the answer?"

"He is the only knight that they never doubted when he suddenly came back to life..."

"You really think that the knights are going to accept that he has 'suddenly come back to life' again?"

"Mordred... They're knights! Hardly the brainiest bunch..."

"Oh so your calling me stupid now!"

"No! Of course not! Your not even a knight... not properly..."

"Oh well, Nice to know I have your loving support in pursuing my passion..."

Reevena laughed and padded off toward the door.

"Where are you going now!?" Mordred shouted

"To kill Lancelot... You clearly don't want him around!"

"No, Ree wait!" Mordred screamed, running after Reevena "Don't kill him, He's already been dead twice... I just don't think it's necessary, the knights are loyal to whomever holds the crown"

Reevena raised an eyebrow "Do you really want to take that risk?"

Mordred let out a long breath and took the sword from Lady Reevena "Next time, at least talk to me first..." He smiled

"I'm sorry..."

Gwaine padded to his chambers. Collapsing onto his bed, he let out a heavy sigh. Everything around him... Everything he knew... It was changing... Fast! First Arthur, One of his best friends and a fair and merciful king... Dead. Then there's Mordred and Reevena, What kind of kingdom where they going to build? Gwaine was sure it wasn't going to end well... Thirdly, Lancelot... How could he be alive... again? Was it even Lancelot? Why was he brought back?

It was all too much for Gwaine. Life had become a tad too complicated. He leant over the side of his bed and pulled out a canteen of wine from underneath it, intending to drink enough to ensure he slept soundly.

A booming knock sounded from the other side of his door. A knock like that? Could only be Percival...

Gwaine dragged himself out of bed and opened the door "What..."

"Gwaine? How drunk are you right now?" Percival questioned

"Enough to stand... So not drunk enough..." He slurred taking another gulp

"Lady Reevena has called a conference of the round table"

"Reevena?"

*****

All the knights sat at the round table, including a very drunk Sir Gwaine.

Lady Reveena sat at the head of the table "I'm sure your all wondering why I've called you here"

The knights nodded

Reevena continued "It has come to my attention that some of you have doubted Lancelot's sudden re-appearance. I want to reassure you all..." She stood up and walked around the table to Lancelot "I brought Lancelot back to life"

The whole room fell silent as the knights all sat stunned. "But... why?" Leon enquired

"I understand that this is a difficult time for you all. I thought maybe an old face would reassure you... Besides, after everything that's happened... After everything me and Mordred have done... I think we owe you all"
