TW//: Slight language, glitches
I woke up to the light of a flickering fire. I blinked a few times, then sat up. What I was not expecting was to be right next to the person whom I had saved from a creeper.
Healing my wings.
Oh crap.
No one was ever supposed to know that I was an avian, a parrot. It had many secrets to hide, but they had come out when I ran and grabbed Scar. As an instinctive protection mechanism.
"Oh good, you're awake!" Scar looked up, smiling.
He stood up and wiped his hands on his pants. "How you feeling?"
"Okay, I think?" I was so confused, how on earth did I survive that explosion? Creepers always killed players with no armor on impact. "Where are we? And how long have I been here?"
"It's only been a few hours, don't worry. I built a temporary base for us in the mountains around the lake. No one should bother us, plus it's quiet."
"But how'd you get both of us up here? The mountains looked very steep from the lake..." I trailed off.
"I have my secrets." Scar shrugged. "However, about yours." He looked me up and down, and I knew he was going to ask the inevitable.
"Why didn't you tell me you were an avian?"
I turned away. Could I really tell him the whole truth? He was my best friend and I trusted him. But this was serious. One wrong move and boom, Hermitcraft would cease to exist. I decided on a half truth; I would tell the full story at the right time, if ever.
"I... I've always had them. It's kind of normal but most people are scared of them so I hide them with a cloak that hides them."
"Well they are beautiful. Parrot, I think?"
"Yes."
I could tell he was trying to lighten the mood, and I was thankful for that. I got up, and was surprised to see that my wings felt fine."I'm just going to go outside for a bit to the lake." I gestured towards the door.
Scar nodded, and I opened the door. A strong wind hit me in the face, and there was a cliff. I saw the whole lake and the mountains. It looked surreal, but then again I've always been in this universe and seen more crazy things. Nostalgia, maybe? Possibly.
I leapt off the cliff, and careful not to be seen, dove into the forest, and landed on a branch of a birch tree, bigger than the rest.
I hid my wings, and started walking quickly, since the sun was going to set soon. As I was walking, I noticed so many different flowers, tulips and daisies, poppies and lilacs, roses and lilies of the Valley. Some of the trees had fallen, and the logs remained with mushrooms growing all over.
Soon, I reached the edge of the forest, and saw Gem and Impulse finishing the roof of a house.
"Grian! Hi!" Gem spotted me first and ran over. "How have you been?"
Really quickly, I glanced at where I had flown down from, and I could barely see to that point. Good, if I can barely see it, no one else should. Being an avian had the advantage of being able to see farther and more clearly than everyone else.
"I've been good, thank you. The news was shocking, wasn't it?"
"It was," Gem's expression changed suddenly. "Hey, where were you? I saw Scar and I heard you teamed up with him, but I saw no sign of you."
I stopped. I had told Scar, but under no conditions would I tell anyone else. "I was just in the caves, that's all. I didn't get anything really useful though." Gem gave me a suspicious look. "All right..." Impulse poked his head through the doorway. "Oh hey Grian! Want to come in? The interior is a little unfinished, but the main structures is in." I looked at the sky. The sun wasn't fully down, and I could spare a few minutes. "Sure, for a bit."
I walked and and was immediately in shock. The walls were dark oak, so that the fireplace in the living room was a bright contrast, the hearth was made of deepslate, the kitchen was a stunning dark cottagecore, and the whole house was just stunning.
"How on earth did you two manage to build this all in such little time? And it's absolutely stunning!"
"Just a little bit of magic and hard work." Impulse winked at me.
"This is top notch," I said. I quickly glanced at my communicator. "Oh dear, I have to get going, I have to build a starter fast."
Gem and Impulse escorted me out and we said our goodbyes.
I went into the forest, and as soon as I was far from the eyes of anyone, I flew up twords the mountain.
"Hi Scar!" I saw him on the cliff and decided to scare him a bit, but enough so he wouldn't fall off.
"GAH! G, you scared the living daylights out of me!" Scar looked like he was about to pass out.
I laughed and patted him on the back. "Sorry if I scared you too much."
"I'm okay, it's fine," Scar started giggling and soon we were in fits of laughter. After we calmed down, Scar said "Okay, I'm going to log out for the night. See you." "Bye!" But instead of him just leaving, he glitched in a purple light and got stuck. "Scar, you're still here." My voice was cautious."Grian... I can't log out."
"What do you mean?"
Scar looked straight into my eyes. "I got sucked into the game."
