Lightning strikes the sky, thunder following in its wake. The Bounty sways as it flies through the storm. In the dining room, Kai, Nya and Jay and I are keeping watch over the four silver Fangblades. Scratch that, Jay is more focused on eating his sandwich."Why is it that Torchfire Mountain is the only place we can destroy the Fangblades?" Nya asks, as the blades rock back and forth with the ship.
"Cause the Fangblades are made from the original teeth of the Devourer," Kai explains, "They're so strong they can only break down in extraordinary heat."
"Uh, could someone pass the salt?" Jay pipes up. As if on cue, the ship shakes hard from the storm causing the saltshaker to slide across the table. "Hey, thanks," Jay grins, catching the container.
The door slides open, the sound of the rain spilling into the room. "Please," Cole says groggily, leaning against the door, "No one talk about food." Lightning strikes and he stumbles at the sudden motion that follows. "How much longer until we get there?"
"Not long," I tell the sick ninja.
"Hey, Cole, you're looking a little green over there," Jay points out with worry before switching to a teasing voice and picking up his meal, "How'd you like a mucus salt sandwich?" Cole's hand shoots to his mouth, running away before he gets sicker. "Heh. Speaking of green," Jay continues, turning back to us, "who would've guessed little turned out to be the Green Ninja?" Jay sets down the sandwich and holds out his arm for dramatic effect, "I mean he bit me one time."
"You deserved it," I remind him, "we told you to leave him alone."
"I know," Nya agrees with Jay, "He was such a brat at first. It's hard to believe he's gonna become the greatest ninja that ever lived."
"Funnily enough the bet was right," I laugh. The others cast confused glances my way, waiting for me to explain. "Remember, who even discovers the identity of the Samurai first is the Green Ninja," I explain, reminding the boys of their bet. "Lloyd had figured out it was Nya before we even knew about Samurai X in the first place."
Kai and Jay stare back, shocked. Nya, meanwhile, tries her best to contain her laughter. Trying to suppress my own giggles, I rise from my spot and head below deck, leaving them in the dining room.
Walking down the halls, I can hear the training equipment running. Nearing the door, Lloyd's voice trails into the hallway.
"Too important to go on missions, huh?" Lloyd questions aloud. I peek inside and watch him hit a punching bag with surprising force. "Well," he turns around proudly, "tell that to my fis-" He's cut off as the punching bag swings back and knocks into him. Without missing a beat, Lloyd's back on his feet, attacking the punching bag. Talking in a cocky tone as he narrates his attacks.
Shaking my head slightly at his antics, I leave him and head to our bedroom. With luck, we'll be rid of the Fangblades soon and not have to worry about the serpentine too much. Just as a precaution, I figured I'd see if I can have a vision.
Sitting on the floor, I get into a meditating position and relax my breathing. Clearing my mind, I focus on the Fangblades...stopping the Great Devourer...
Everything's dark. Not fuzzy. No still forming. Just dark.
The sky is a deep, sickly green. The statue of the Great Devourer from Ouroboros stands tall. Acidic green venom pouring from its fangs.
"Awaken, great one! Awaken the insatiable appetite of the beast that will consume all of Ninjago!" Pythor's voice echos over the statue.
Pythor? This isn't good.
