"You must do everything in your power to stop the Great Devourer," Sensei tells us, "Go, ninja! Go!"We stare at him in shock and worry. Calmly, he closes his eyes and nods to us, as if to say that it will all be okay.
The ground rumbles more powerfully this time. A giant snake shoots out from the center of the ground, climbing hundreds of feet into the air with no sign of stopping. Looking up, everyone stares in shock of the Great Devourer.
Looking to the ground, the snake lets out a vicious hiss, locking her eyes on Sensei and Pythor.
In a flash, Sensei Wu and Pythor are gone.
I scream but no words seem to come out. In a daze, I try to move forwards but someone stops me. I'm only able to stare at the spot they two were standing not a moment before. The Devourer lets out a mighty roar, knocking all of us from our grief.
"Oh," Jay mutters, the giant snake staring down at us, "maybe if we stand perfectly still..."
"Run!"
We bolt. Sprinting out the city the snake starts to follow. Just ahead I spot the Bounty getting into position. With speedy determination we make it across the sand and onto the ship.
Collapsing into the bridge on top of each other, we immediately scramble into positions.
"Uh, hate to tell you this," Jay announces, looking at the computer, the Great Devourer moving towards us, "but objects in the mirror are closer than they appear."
"Working on it," Nya says from the helm, "Blasters on full." Just before the snake could reach us, we take off.
"Whoo-hoo!" Kai cheers, looking out the window, "Take that, you stupid snake." As if on cue, the ground in front of us ruptures, the Great Devourer bursting from the sand.
"Uh, I think it heard you," Jay squeaks.
"Nya, we gotta go faster," Kai tells his sister, "That thing is gaining on us."
"We're going as fast as we can," Nya retorts.
"Try to make it to Scattered Canyon," I tell her, noticing the terrain ahead of us, "we can try to lose the snake in there."
"Probability of us making it that far is less than 8 percent," Zane informs us.
"Never tell me the odds!" Nya shouts.
"It's coming in for another attack," Cole shouts, "Port side." Nya turns the ship, nearly knocking all of us over, but we manage to miss the attack.
"We're losing speed," Lloyd panics, looking at a monitor, "We'll drop to the ground pretty soon."
"Throw everything overboard," Nya orders.
"What?"
"We need to lose some weight," she explains.
"Port side!" Lloyd yells.
Not being able to dodge quick enough, the Devourer manages to clip one of our engines. At the impact we bolt below deck. Draggining anything not bolted down and tossing them over the side.
"The more it consumes, the bigger it gets," Cole realizes, looking at the snake, then shouts, "Don't throw anything else overboard." Everyone freezes, following his order. Leaving the deck, Cole joins the others in the bridge. Kai and I keep look out from the bow as we near our destination.
"We made it to Scattered Canyons," Nya tells us over the intercom, "Hold on!" Entering the canyons we start to weave through the tall stones. The Devourer still chases after us but is struggling in the narrow passes.
