Promises

𝟎𝟕

After two days of being in her link pod, Marie's body was stiff, and hungry.

Poor kid is starved Grace laughed to herself as she watched Marie gobble down the food that was placed in front of her. Mac and cheese with tomato soup, and an extra cheesy grilled cheese sandwich.

"Slow down baby, you'll choke," Jake pulled Marie's fork down, instructing her to chew her food a bit more before swallowing.

"But daddy, I'm hungry," Marie whined moving her head forward to take a bite from the fork. 

Jake placed his hand on her forehead to prevent her from snatching the food. "It's not gonna disappear, just chew slowly."

"Bu-"

"Listen or I won't let you link."

"Okay," Marie mumbled, chewing properly.

After her meal, Jake left Marie at the lab while he went off "to pack up quick" or whatever. Marie was too busy working her little tablet to care. She was sat on Graces spinny chair, swiping on the pics that had thankfully uploaded to her tablet before her camera got lost in the fall. Her giant Piglet toy in between her legs helping to prop up the tablet.

The lab people were moving non-stop around her. She was about to ask what the rush was about when her father wheeled in beside her, carry his and Marie's possessions in two separate bags. "where we headin'?"

"Getting out of dodge," Grace said, her hip jutted out with her hands on her waist, "I don't need Selfridge and Quartich micro-managing this thing. There's a mobile link up at site 26 we can work out of, way up in the mountains."

Jakes eyes turned down, guilty knowing that he had been caught giving the two vultures information that they wanted.

"The Hallelujah Mountains?" Norm cut in.

"Yeah."

"Are you serious?"Grace gave him a nod.

"Yes!" Jake tilted his head at Norms excitement, trying to remember if he read about the Hallelujah Mountains.

Norm was quick to notice Jakes confusion, and decided to gloat "the legendary floating mountains of Pandora. Heard of them?"

Norms cocky attitude received an eye roll from the Sullys, and shake of the head from Grace. No one sassed my daddy! Just you wait Norm.

Trudy flew the Samson to their new link location. Norm and Graces avatars riding in the back with Jake and Marie.

They had arrived around an hour ago. Marie was allowed to organize her small section in the link. Setting up her bed and placing her Winnie the Pooh collection on display on her bed. Her coloring supplies under the bed in a box along with her three changes of clothes that she was given and her two pijamas. Her blanket folded by the bottom of the bed, left there by her dad. It was too heavy for her to carry.

Jake laughed at the sight, she was just like her uncle Tommy. Always needing their things to be in certain areas, only to have everything strung around a room in an hour.
