A week passes. As I'm doing my hair, two guards barge into my room. I instantly know why. I place the hair brush down and they lead me to the Queen. She's leaning against a window sill, her back to the guards and I. "Your Majesty." one guard says. The Queen turns. I frown. Her skin is pale and wrinkling. She has a slight shake to her step. "I thought you said you could last two weeks." I say. She nods. "It's been longer than two weeks. That's why I'm like this." she says, her voice weak. I walk towards her, leaving the guards to stand next to eachother.

"Why didn't you tell me two weeks had passed?" I ask. "I didn't want to bother you, I guess." she says. I laugh. She frowns. "Why do you think I'm here? Certainly not for fun. I'm here so you don't have to kill young women. That means why you need me, you need to tell me." I explain. She nods like a child who just got told off. I turn and nod to the guards who then leave.

I walk right up to her. "Right, do what you need to do." I tell her. She hesitates. "Or don't. It's up to you." She nods. "I just need to-" she starts. "I already said you can do whatever you need to do." I say. She places her hand on my chest and looks into my eyes. She lifts her palm from my chest, leaving her finger tips digging into me. I start to feel lightheaded. My eyes flutter open and closed. I start to feel weak. A few seconds later, everything stops. My body falls, limp and lifeless.

I wake up, my back against Queen Ravenna's chest. My head rests against her neck. I sit up and wipe my hair from my face. I turn to look at her. "How long was I out for?" I ask, trying to avoid the thought of being in her arms. "About five minutes." she tells me. I scoot forward and stand. I flatten out my dress. "Do you need me for anything else, your Majesty?" I ask. She stands and flattens out her dress. "No, thank you Lady Y/n." she says. I nod and leave. My heart races as I hurry to my room.

I almost run to the window. I need fresh air, I need fresh air, I need fresh air... I take a deep breath in, hold it for a second, then force it back out. My heart continues to race. I don't know if it's the fact that I died and adrenaline is still flowing through me or the fact the Queen was all but cuddling me, but whatever it is, I hate it. I fucking hate it. I go back to doing my hair in attempt to take my mind off things.

I contemplate missing breakfast, but I'm lacking energy due to my life literally being sucked from my body. I end up eating almost double what I usually do. I wipe around my mouth. "I have to ask." I start. The Queen looks at me. "Why didn't you just leave my body where it landed when I fell?" I ask. She tilts her head to the side a little. "Sorry?" she questions. "You moved me. When I woke I was laying against your chest and we were sitting on the ground." I tell her. She nods. "Oh, yes. I just wanted to make sure you were somewhat comfortable when you awoke." she tells me.

I frown in confusion. "But why?" I ask. "I don't know. I just felt like I needed to." she answers. I get the feeling that she's not telling the whole truth, but I don't dare push it. It's better for her, and myself, if I drop it. After I've eaten, I excuse myself. I talk a long, peaceful walk outside. The scent of pollen catches my attention. Once again I feel at peace. Maybe it's the castle gardens that make me feel so happy. There's no havoc; no fights, raids, nothing.

I sit, leaning against a large oak tree. The sound of horses making noise in the background brings a smile to my face. I rest my head against the rough bark and close my eyes. I run over this mornings events in my mind. My mind flicks to Faye and the fact that she may have been the next victim of the Queen's had I not stopped it all. I hear leaves crunch quietly next to me. I open my eyes. My eyes dart to the women standing over me.

"I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable." Queen Ravenna says. I shake my head. "No, it just confused me. That's all." I say. She nods and sighs. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay." she tells me. My heart flutters. "Fuck off, butterflies." I think to myself. I smile, and it feels almost real. "Thank you, your Majesty." I reply. She smiles. "May I sit with you?" she asks. My stomach drops. I hesitate. "I- sure, yeah no, of course." I finally manage.
