"You, him, your father! Narnia's better off without the lot of you!" Peter shouted at Caspian.
"Argh!" Caspian roared as he raised his sword and Peter met it.'
"Stop it!" Edmund shouted and they turned to him. "Stop it," Edmund said again before he fell forwards onto his knees.
"Edmund? Are you alright?" Susan asked as she knelt beside him. He was holding one of his hands up to his waist, and blood was sweeping through it.
"Ed..." Peter said as he dropped his sword and ran to his brother. "What happened?"
"A bolt... lucky hit..." Edmund said before he grimaced and Peter supported him as he bent forwards.
"Lucy, your healing cordial," Susan said as Lucy was running to them.
"We've got you Ed."
"Argh..."
"Lucy?" Susan asked as Lucy stopped and Peter looked up at his sister. Edmund was grimacing in pain in his grip, and Lucy had stopped in her tracks, feeling where her pouch should be.
"Don't tell me that you've lost it..."
"No. No, it's inside," Lucy said before she rushed into the fortress.
"Argh... Peter..." Edmund said as he fell.
"No. Stay with me Ed," Peter said as he let Edmund collapse onto the ground and he leant over him.
"We're with you Edmund," Susan said as she turned Edmund onto his back and put pressure on his wound.
"Argh..."
"Stay with us."
"Lucy..."
"She'll be back."
"I'm here!" Lucy shouted as she ran to them.
"Quickly Lucy," Peter said as Edmund closed his eyes.
"Edmund? Wake up," Susan asked as Lucy knelt beside them and he went quiet. Lucy gave Edmund a drop, and the Pevensies waited.

"Is he alright?" Caspian asked after a moment.
"He... should be. Ed? Ed?" Peter asked as he shook Edmund gently.
"Edmund, can you hear us?" Susan asked, but Edmund didn't move. She removed her hands and undid his breastplate. Peter helped her to remove it, and they were relieved to see that there was no trace of the wound to Edmund's chest.
"But, why isn't he waking up?" Peter asked, and he looked back at Edmund. "Ed? Edmund?" He asked, but he remained still.
"Perhaps the wound was too great."
"No. It's gone."
"The cordial worked before."
"It worked on Edmund?"
"Yes. Many years ago," Peter said before he frowned and lowered his head to Edmund's lips. He placed his hand onto his chest and waited to feel his brother's breath on his cheek.
"Peter?" Susan asked after a few seconds.
"He's alive. He's breathing."
"We should get him below. We can tend to him there," Caspian said and Peter thought about it.
"Alright," Peter agreed and he carefully took Edmund into his arms before taking him inside.

Under the care of Trufflehunter, Edmund remained unconscious and Peter came to check on him.
"How is he?"
"He's well, but still asleep."
"I would have thought that he'd woken up by now."
"So do I."
"Is he alright?"
"There's not a scratch on him. Nor does he have a fever or any sickness. He's just..."
"Unconscious," Peter said. He sat beside his brother and brushed some hair out of his face. "He worries me so much."
"Your brother is a brave man."
"He is. More than you know. He does whatever he needs to in order to help us. In order to help me."
"Do you want some time alone with him?"
"Yes. Thank you for looking after him."
"It's my job."
"Get some rest."
"Thank you my king," Trufflehunter said and he left Peter with Edmund.

A few hours passed and Susan swapped to stay with Edmund for a while. Peter talked to Lucy by the stone table, but soon enough Susan came to them.
"Edmund's awake," She said, and they rushed to their brother. Peter hugged Edmund as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"Are you alright?"
"I am."
"You scared us so much."
"How long have I been out for?"
"Just over a day."
"A day? How come I was out for so long?"
"We don't know," Peter said as he let Edmund go.
"I'm sorry that I scared you."
"It's not your fault."
"You have to stop getting chest wounds," Peter said and they looked at him. "Lucy's only got so much of her cordial," Peter finished and Edmund smiled.
"I'll try not to let it happen again."
"Good."
"I don't think Peter can stand to see you dying again."
"Just Peter?"
"I don't want you to die either Edmund."
"Sorry Lucy," Edmund said to her with a small smile. "I won't use up any more of your cordial."
"Are you sure that you're alright?"
"Yes. Although, I could do with a walk."
"I'll take you into the woods."
"Thanks Susan," Edmund said and he went with his sister.

"Are you alright?" Lucy asked Peter once they were gone.
"What am I going to do with him Lucy?"
"What do you mean?"
"He's nearly been killed several times."
"And we've always saved him."
"But what if we can't?"
"Then Aslan will."
"We can't always rely on Aslan."
"Why can't we?"
"Because it's Edmund. And he... I can't lose him. I can't lose any of you."
"Peter," Lucy said and she hugged him.
"We forgot the... Peter, are you alright?" Susan asked as she came back into the room.
"Are you crying?" Edmund asked and Peter turned to him.
"You could have died, Ed."
"Peter, I'm sorry," Edmund said before he rushed over and hugged his brother. "I'm alright," He said and they all hugged.
"You could have died."
"I know."
"Don't do that to me again. Please... I don't think my heart could take it."
"I'm sorry. You always look after me."
"I wish I didn't have to," Peter said and he held Edmund tightly.

""I wish I didn't have to," Peter said and he held Edmund tightly
