Life was simple, living alone and working away, but things changed for Eli when he stumbled upon a very rare stray. At first he thought it the usual housecat but things changed when he finds was more than the ordinary housecat, one that would change...
The night was cool, calm, and quiet. The streets of the city slowly falling asleep, as the people began to head indoors for the night. Walking down the sidewalk I gave a pleased sigh, enjoying the cool air around me. Living on the east coast had its benefits, and walking through the main part of town was relaxing, something I did often in fact, despite living on the edge of town in a home my parents gave me when they moved, which is way too big for me. When I say too big for me the place was a literal mansion, with fourteen bedrooms, and bathrooms to accommodate for them, a dining hall that was more like a banquet hall, and a kitchen that could prepare a feast for hundreds of people. Not to mention the pool in the backyard, and the theater and other accommodations to make the place a heaven for some. I used to live in a comfy apartment that I had gotten from saving money from work and other side jobs, though my work was the main income I have,. For why I live in such a place, and to know that my family doesn't believe in hiring butler's or maids to take care of the place, keeping it clean isn't an easy job but luckily it is a little easier once you know a few tricks.
Nonetheless, as I walked down the lamp lit streets, passing a small alleyway, I heard a noise from the alley that sounded like a cats meow. Stopping I listened and heard it again, though it sounded almost like it was crying for help. I never really had a cat, though I had thought of it from time to time, and I thought of myself as a person who would do pretty well at caring for one. Hearing this meow from a cat that could possibly be hurt pulled at my heartstrings a bit. I always had a soft spot for animals, in fact I create applications for vets and other animal helpers, as I call them, that help them in caring and helping for animals around the world for a living, which is a blessing of how much I make.
Though taking in a stray is something few in the city, in my area anyways, would do, I went into the alley as I just couldn't live with the fact I left some poor cat crying for help in some dark alley. Going down the darkened hall of brick and cement I heard the call seemingly stop, which was strange as I hadn't gotten close at all, but all of this felt off. I have little knowledge on cat behavior, thanks to a friend in my younger years, but just the sudden stop of the meow's as I got closer, and just judging on how far I was, it just seemed off to me, plus I noticed the meow was louder and not an exact meow from a household cat. Despite that I pressed forward, when I soon came upon a very large box. It was in okay condition, but the size was large enough to house a sitting man inside with enough space to wiggle a little. The top was covered with the boxes flaps, and based off of the creases found on those flaps showed that it had some use. Tilting my head, I shrugged my shoulders and turned to start leaving, assuming the box was left out with random items inside, most likely trash, till I heard something shuffle inside the box. Perking up a little confused, I looked back to the box and saw it jostle slightly as the sounds of something inside moving about. Tilting my head, I approached and carefully lifted the flaps and inside I was caught by surprise from what I found.
