She thought she was going to have a normal summer, partying, hooking up with random guys she met in the club, secretly smoking weed but her life changed, literally. Just a week, it all changed in a week, ONE week.
Olivia Maybank, or Liv as everyone called her, she was quite a popular girl back in New York but that was before she ran away from home, its been weeks since she was on her mission to find her dad and real brother, JJ or something. Her mom told her about him once but even she never knew him much, she regretted it, leaving him and his father.
"Hello? Excuse me? We're here", the taxi driver stopped the car near figure 8 and told her, zoned out, she was lost in her own world. "Oh shit", she mumbled. "I'm so sorry", she said handing him her last bit of money she packed before she left. "Thank you so much", she said as he drove off. "Wow, this place is a literal heaven, never knew dad was rich", she said looking at the big houses.
She tried to cross the street alone but it was never really her thing. It always brought back the same old memory of her mom. "Okay liv, you're alone, no one's here to help you", she fearfully said looking around hoping to find someone. "Look there's no cars, cmon you can do it", she fixed her gaze on the other side of the road and practically ran across the street. Until she froze half way looking at the speeding motorbike coming her way.
"Did your daddy not teach you how to cross a street, princess". She saw a handsome guy with messy dark blonde hair and blue eyes getting off of his bike. She was staring at his bike like she had seen a ghost. "I- Im so sorry, I- shit", searching for words she said. "You look too hot for a pogue and you're on Figure 8 so I'm guessing you are new here", he said. "I'm Rafe, Rafe Cameron", he mumbled extending his hands. Liv shook his hands, "Nice to meet you Rafe, look I know I just met you but I need your help". "Quick, aren't we now, princess", he said teasing her. "Not that you idiot, where's this address", she jokingly said as she hands him a piece of paper. "Oh the South side? I could drop you there if you want princess", he said hesitantly. She snapped, "Omg are you serious, that would be great, are you sure tho?".
"Yes ofc princess, come on get on the bike".
She stopped and looked around for a couple seconds.
Her delayed action made him worried, "Hey you alright?"
"Uh yeah lets go", she reassured him.
"Here we are princess", Rafe boldly stated.
"Thank you so much Rafe"
"Oh its no problem- princess"
"Its Olivia but Liv for you"
"So Liv, you got a last name or should I just stick to Princess?", he said making Liv giggle.
"It's Maybank-"
Before she could say anything else, Rafe spoke up.
"MAYBANK? As in JJ Maybank?"
"Why- are you so surprised"
"Nothing really, you actually seem nice"
"Maybe you just don't know me yet Cameron", Liv said smirking
"Fair point princess, so when do I get to know you more"
"How about tomorrow, we could go to the beach?", Liv said unsure since she didn't know any good places around.
"Tomorrow? thats like ages away, there's a party tonight at the beach, princess. Be ready, I'll come to pick you up at 6", he said driving off.
Liv just smiled to herself. She walked towards the front door knocking, eager for someone to open the door. After a quite some knocking, she said down in the lawn. "They probably went out or something", she thought to herself.
She kept looking at the time on her phone, thinking about how she hasn't gotten good sleep in ages. She dozed off, after an hour when she finally woke up after a noise of some van stopping at the front gate. Her eyes lit up with joy, she stood up, thinking about how it was finally time, she was finally going to meet her real family.
A blonde guy, blue eyes came out of the van pushing his hair back. There was a guy behind him wearing a bandana around his neck, he was kinda cute, long dirty blonde wavy hair and he had the cutest smile.
"Who the hell are you", the first guy rudely said.
"I'm-"
"Let me take a guess, you're my dad's new dealer"
"No I'm not a dealer-"
"Did we hook up or something, look I was probably high alright, it wasn't anything serious", he said annoyed.
"JJ shut up man, just shut up, let her talk", the other sensible looking guy cut him off.
"Wait wait wait, did you just say JJ?", the girl spoke.
"As in Maybank? like JJ Maybank?", she spoke before anyone said anything.
"Uh yeah, thats me, I'm JJ Maybank, why?", the first guy spoke up.
"Oh I've been looking for you, I- I'm Olivia", she had a thousands of feelings in that moment
"Olivia Maybank", she spoke again waiting for response"
"Maybank?", jj shooted at her.
"Yes, I' m your-"
"No. No you are not, you left. You fucking left", he angrily said.
"JJ I didn't choose to, Mom took me-"
"And she left dad and me"
"JJ can we please talk alone", the girl emotionlessly said shooting a look at the other guy
The other guy started to walk to the van parked on the side of the street.
She was on the verge of tears but so was he.
"What now? Huh did Ms Maybank leave you like she left me?", his voice got louder. He reminded her of her stepfather, mean, loud, abusive.
She didn't even realise it but she was soaked in tears. She always imaged how meeting her brother would be like but this was nothing like what she imagined. She tried to speak but her voice had to many cracks. But the boy kept speaking, screaming in fact like it was Liv's fault. She didn't want to be around him anymore, he was causing pain, the trauma was coming back. Maybe this wasn't a good idea.
"Shh Liv its fine, maybe dad will welcome me into this family", she thought, trying to calm herself down.
"WHY ARE YOU HERE? ARE YOU GOING TO FOR ONCE MAKE MY FAMILY HAPPY AND THEN RUN OFF LIKE IT WAS NOTHING, JUST LIKE MS MAYBANK I SEE", he shouted.
TW - mentions of suicide
The girl just stood there, lifeless.
"I wish she never came into dad's life, I hope she fucking dies, it would finally be some good news for us-"
Before he could finish, he felt a warm hand on his cheek. Olivia slapped him, her own brother.
"my mom, is dead, she took her own fucking life", she whisper shouted, her mascara was stained on her cheeks. She thought her brother would laugh or smile or be happy but fear took over him.
"I- Liv I'm sorry", he shed a tear.
"I keep telling myself that I'm not like my father but", he softly said.
"like your father? what does that mean?", the girl said
He turned around to to see his friends waiting in the Twinkie (van).
"Look Liv, I've gotta go right now, my friends are waiting for me but I don't think dad's coming home tonight and you shouldn't stick around for him, he's not the best person. But if you want to, I have spare keys", he said handing her the keys.
"JJ what the hell do you mean? You were literally just shouting and blaming me and now you want me to be safe?", Liv said angry and scared.
He wiped away his dried tears and ran towards the van. She cried as she saw the van disappear.
