Adelaine's pov

After searching for a good five minutes I finally found a seemingly empty compartment. Sliding the door open letting out a relieved sigh I say, "Thank god, I finally found an empty compartment."

"Well come right on in no need for knocking." an unfamiliar voice spoke as I was about to sit and make myself comfortable, it startled me, to say the least. Realizing I had just missed the girl with a mix of periwinkle and mint hair as she was hidden around the corner of the door.

I sat down and kind of just stared at the girl, I was still slightly taken aback from the shock of not seeing the girl in there. I took note of her earthy grunge vibe and her faded lilac hair that appeared periwinkle due to the hints of mint in it. She was pretty.

"Oh, well thank you, I'm Adelaine by the way, a third-year but it's my first year here at Hogwarts," I grinned, reaching my hand out. She sat up from her slouched position and seemed to hesitate in shaking my hand.

"Jaelynn, I would say it's a pleasure but I don't know yet. I'm a 3rd year as well. Any school I've gone to I've gotten kicked out of. So this is kind of my dad's last resort." she introduced herself. I was relieved that I wouldn't be the only new student at Hogwarts, aside from the first years.

We sat and talked for quite a long time, about anything really mostly bonding over the dumb things we've done the last few years and getting expelled from our previous schools. After a while, I started hearing an older-sounding woman coming closer to the compartment and assumed it would be a professor coming to check on the students or something until our compartment door slid open revealing an old lady with a trolley of sweets.

"Anything from the trolley dears?" She smiled.

Jaelynn stood up reaching into her pants pockets, "I would like some chocolate frogs, please. Adelaine you up for anything?"

I grinned at her offer and asked for some pumpkin pasties. She handed me the pastry and sat back in her seat.

It was silent for a moment before Jaelynn, who I learned was a Scamander, spoke up, "We really should stick together. Seeing as we're both going into the school year as new 3rd years and know absolutely no one."

"You're right, but we might not be sorted into the same house so," I agreed, she stayed silent likely acknowledging the different houses we'll likely be put into.

Time went on and it started to get darker so I assumed we would be arriving soon. We stayed to ourselves for a while so I decided to grab the book I had bought at a muggle store a few days ago. I know being a pureblood you're supposed to like despise muggles or whatever but I couldn't deny that their books weren't lovely. I had a lot of love for the Grimm tales especially.

Setting my focus on the book time seemed to go by way faster. Eventually, the train began to come to a slow indicating that we were about to arrive at the school. I peered out the window seeing a glimpse of the large castle that I would come to know as Hogwarts. Putting my book back in my bag I get ready to exit the train.

Stepping out of the train I was in awe. I knew it was a castle but I didn't expect it to be so grand. since we were still in the older group we still went with the rest of the school rather than the first years. We followed the crowd and ended up in front of carriages. Finding a carriage with four people already in it who welcomed us up.
