1 day before Jasmine arrives:
It was a scorching hot Friday, and my nerves were on edge as I spent the whole day on a video call with Jasmine, going through a checklist of everything she'd need for her trip. I wanted to ensure that she had all the necessary documents, so I reminded her repeatedly about passports and other important papers. She managed to pack everything she needed, including her summer clothes, medications, and her favorite snacks. Meanwhile, I made a run to the supermarket to buy her plenty of water bottles
as she couldn't have tap water, along with some of her favorite foods, just in case she didn't like our traditional Moroccan cuisine.
I also took it upon myself to teach her some useful phrases that she could use when she arrives at the airport, just in case something went wrong. I suggested that she download a translation app and cautioned her about what not to do when she gets here.
Jasmine was understandably nervous, and she had many questions about how to greet my family and friends, given our different religious and cultural backgrounds. I did my best to prepare her for the situation, hoping that it would all go smoothly when she arrives.
Finally, it was time for her flight, and I wished her a safe journey, telling her how excited I was to see her. It was only one more day until we would finally be together.
The promised day:
Jasmine was due to arrive at 9 pm, so I woke up early, feeling anxious and excited at the same time. I wanted everything to be perfect for her arrival, so I asked my uncle to take me to the airport, which was two hours away. I didn't want to take any chances with bad luck ruining this moment.
On the way there, I called my uncle, who was one of the few people who knew about Jasmine's arrival. He promised to keep it a secret and drove me to the airport along with one of my close friends instead of my father who stayed home with my mom preparing tea and snacks for Jasmine.
He knew Jasmine and was familiar with our story, making him the perfect companion for the journey.
As we got closer to the airport, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I started to imagine what Jasmine would look like in real life, how it would feel to hug her, touch her, and kiss her. I wondered if her eyes would sparkle in the sunlight and if they would shine under any circumstance. But, I also couldn't shake off the negative thoughts, imagining everything that could go wrong during her trip, from missing papers to a plane malfunction.
Finally, it was time, and my friend and uncle joined me in waiting patiently for Jasmine's arrival. My heart was racing as I kept my eyes fixed on the arrival hall. Finally, at 9:20 pm, I caught a glimpse of Jasmine's blonde hair as she walked towards me, wearing a beautiful yellow sweater. I felt like I was on top of the world, and I couldn't wait to
hug her tightly and start our adventure together. My friend had his camera ready, documenting every moment of our long-awaited reunion.
