We had all been ushered back into the castle, and those who needed attending were treated. Jade and I stood off to the side as we gathered in the main room, my father was also in attendance sitting with Balentine as he was treated. The first light wasn't far from when the battle began so the early morning light began to shine on the kingdom. 

Graydon explained what he had seen to the Queen, the rest of us listening carefully. Kit sat by herself on the stairs leading to the Queen's chair, you could tell she was listening but you could also tell how hurt she was, the motionless stare at the ground was enough for me to know exactly what was going through her head. The doors suddenly open and two guards walk in with the same man who saved Jade "Caught up with him on the edge of town trying to steal a horse" One of the Guards announced, "False, patently false. I was actually checking on the conditions of the stables as I was concerned for the welfare of the animals. Is- is it a crime to care? huh? to feel?" He gets riled up "Enough" the King shouts "I'll go" Kit stands from her spot.

"ill go" She repeats, I quickly turn to look at her, what was she thinking!? "yes" the Queen blankly answers, Kit is confused at first, but so am I, she's really going to let Kit go!? "Mother, I said, I think I should go west to search for Arik" Kit tries to make herself clear "I heard you... And I agree" She confirms to her daughter, Leaving Kit mildly happy her Mother is letting her go in search of her brother. "My Queen, if that is your decision, I volunteer to go with her" Balentine offers "your the commander of the Pacalcade, you cant relinquish that responsibility to go questing. I'll go, I've known Arik since they say he was born, and he is as close to a son as I'll ever have... at least that I'm aware of" A Gaurd announces, The queen thanks him and he goes to stand by Kit. 

I Watch Jade take a few steps away from me "Me too, Where the princess goes I go" She announces, great now they are both going. I turn to my father quickly, and he almost instantly knows what I'm going to do and tries to tell me no "Then I shall go too" I say out loud, the Queen gives me a confused look "I have been trained by my Father, I promise to protect Kit, and I promise I will not fail" I say to her, she thinks for a second before allowing it and I quickly join Kit and Jade. Kit gives me a worried look. 

"In that case, so is Graydon," The king says, "I'm what now?" "You know I think were good, fellowship wise" Kit tries to stop him "You'd let your bride-to-be travel beyond the barrier without you?" The king questions, staring at his son in anger "It's not ideal, but I'd learn to live with it" He shrugs, now he is really getting on my nerves, I give him a disgusted look. The king moves to his son's ear and begins whispering something to him, what the fuck? Graydon then moves over to us trying to go and stand next to Kit. I act on impulse and stand in between the way. him and Kit, giving him a stern look to tell him I'm not moving. "Thraxus Boorman," the said Boorman guy pulls himself away from the guards that were still holding him "Youve been beyond the barrier" She confirms with him "Aye, and it no place for children" He states, giving the group of us a quick glance "Be their guide, and ill pardon all your crimes" She proposes to him "Really? Even the one in the haberdashery with... you know I just like the feeling of velvet on my..." "Even that" the queen interrupted him, and thank god because I did not want to hear where that was going. 

The king tries to debate Boorman coming with us, stating he is a criminal and cannot be trusted however the queen will not listen and trust this man to guide us. The queen and Boorman soon start to talk of needing a sorcerer, Boorman doesn't think we will find one and says they are all gone however the queen says otherwise. 

We were soon after all dismissed, told to go and get ready before we leave. My father and I meet by our house and he looks beyond pissed "Elizabeth Carlton what on earth were you thinking!? You are not going it's not safe!" He scolds me "Father, Kit and Jade are my best friends, I'm not letting them go alone" "And you are my daughter! You are all I have left and if something happens to you I will not forgive myself" He says to me "And if something happens to them I won't forgive myself!" I shout at him. I take a deep breath before talking again "Please dad, I couldn't protect Caleb and to this day it taunts me, let me protect them, I'm begging you. You know I have the training now, and I'm good, I finally know how to fight" I try to convince him "Elizabeth... Caleb wasn't your fault" He quickly brings me into a tight hug, knowing he can't stop me from going "I'm proud of you, for being so determined. Just please... come home to me ok?" He says, I wrap my arms around him and nod my head, trying my best not to cry " I promise.

As I start packing a few things to take with me my father comes into the room with his sword in his hands "Elizabeth, if you're going to fight, then I offer you a sword passed down for generations. This is your mother's sword, and now I give it to you, the next in the family to use it. Take care of it, fight well and remember, fight smart not hard" He passes his sword to me, and I stare at it for a second, admiring the gift he has just given me. The sword has some sort of crest at the top of the handle one I had seen Mother use a few times but rarely. "Thank you, I won't let you down". 

The time had come to meet back with the others and get ready to leave, the queen had called Jade and me over to talk to her. "The fate of Tir Asleen may well rest on whether you succeed or fail," She says to the two of us "We won't fail" Jade states to her, she sounds determined, and so am I. "Kits like her father, she'll never stop looking for Arik" "I- we won't let anything happen to her" I speak up, the queen turns to look at me "She'll need you to be sensible when she rash" I nod my head at her, she then turns to look at Jade "Im counting on you like I would any knight" Jade has a proud smile on her face, and I for her as well. We both thank the queen and then walk to our horses "Good start" I whisper to her as we walk over.

As we begin our journey, leaving through the kingdom, leaving goodbye to those who know of what's happening I can't help but feel somewhat scared, and nervous about what might happen and what's to come.
