Rumors. Never liked them, never will. The rumors spoke of me and Nick that week; concluding why we were seen at the lake together. Some confronted me about it, but I never gave them a clear answer. Because I myself didn't know.

Though soon I had to give an explanation sooner than later. Otherwise, the pressure would crush me. So, I explained exactly what happened— beginning to end— to one of my acquaintances, a toxic and bubbly female named Stela. She was in charge of the school's local news, which was always on the bulletin board in the cafeteria. The school allowed students to write reports of any gossip as long as it was appropriate.

My idea was that she could put an end to the rumors saying Nick and I were a thing, but she only fueled it.
Backstabbing whore.

Regardless, the rumors worsened, and by Thursday I was socially drained. Slouching, I dragged myself to my locker, when suddenly someone grabbed my hood. Nick pinned me to a wall, scowling, "What did you tell her?"

Panic shot through my entire body. I met his gaze, and swallowed hard, "Tell who?"

"You know who," He said through gritted teeth, fuming, "Why are they saying we're dating?!"

My gaze darkened, "You've only just heard the rumors?"

"Don't play dumb, sweetheart." He growled.

"Hey, I'm not playing dumb, okay? You were the one who wanted me to stay at the lake,"

"And you were the one who agreed." He made a good point. I stayed, when I wanted to turn back. Why? God only knows.

As I was processing this, he scoffed, "You made my girlfriend dump my ass because of your rumors."
I looked at him with disbelief, "You think I started the rumors?!? I'm just as mad as you are!"

That made him let go of me, but he didn't leave from my sight. He remained in front of me for a long time, before sighing and pulling something from his pocket, "Laura left me, and.. I already paid for these so," He hand me a small ticket. I looked at him with wide eyes.

"You're coming to the homecoming dance with me."
