A brown substance covered me from head to toe. I prayed it was mud, but when I smelled it I knew it wasn't.

It was definitely pig manure.

Instead of blood like in the story I read by Stephen King, Alex used pig shit. That's worse, in my opinion.
I, of course, was no where near pleased.

Silence. You could hear the cups Nick was carrying drop to the ground. And then laughter. First by Alex, and then from Laura, and everyone else followed.
It dawned on me quickly. They were laughing at me.

I don't remember walking out of the school; I was so angry that I just sorta blacked out. The next thing I remember though was walking away in the pouring rain, some chunks of manure slipping off me into muddy puddles. Nick ran out behind me, "Sweet—"

"Don't you dare call me sweetheart." I whipped my head to him, fuming. I knew my face under the thick coat of shit was red with anger.

"You planned this, didn't you?" My voice wavered.
Nick looked in horror, "No. no! I didn't, I swear!"

I didn't listen to him. Taking a step forward, I spat in his face, "You asked me out so I could be embarrassed in the most gruesome way. Well, bravo!! Your plan fucking worked."
My eyes felt slick with tears. The rain didn't help.

"I knew it was too good to be true."

Nick's face contorted into one of despair, his eyes widening.

Once again, I don't remember how I got to the lake. I know I walked there, but that's just hard to believe because the school is, although nearby town, still quite far away. Somehow, Nick was behind me. I saw his tie at the corner of my eye flash in the distance as he ran to me, calling my name.
I ignored him, pushing on.

The rain.
I never thought the rain would ever betray me like this. But suddenly the muddy bank below me sank into the water, reeling me by the feet to the rushing current. My mouth opened to scream, only to be filled with murky lake water.

This was it for me, I thought. I was drowning.
At first, I fought against the current best I could, but it was just too strong. It badly wanted to pull me down, sweeping me further and further away from land. My life was slipping. And I couldn't do anything about it.

Sobbing in the waters, I accepted my fate. It was already too late for me anyway. I swallowed too much water to begin with. My oxygen level was already too low to be fighting for my life like this.

I couldn't breathe, and it was starting to get to my head. I was losing it.
I thought about every bad thing Nick did to me, how he has no remorse for any of it. How, like Alex, will always want me dead.
Only, all of that I thought... it wasn't true.

Now I realize it. Then I was skeptical.
It was just too good to be true.

Like an angel, he swooped in gracefully, grabbing me underwater and taking me to the surface. Though unconscious, I could hear his voice as slowly I came back to life. The first thing I did when I came to consciousness was vomit the muddy waters that entered my body, as well as the little snacks I had during the party.

Nick patted my back, panting softly, "Good, let it all out.." He murmured gently.
I practically puked my guts out.

"Okay, okay. Reel it back in now."
