Dragon Trainer (Hiccup x oc)

chapter 6

"So why didn't you?" Hiccup ask as he picks up the bola he shot at the Night Fury. Eria and Hiccup go down the hill to look if the dragons have left. They get get down to the edge of the cliff. As they stand there all they see is birds. Eria looks around and shakes her head. "Well this was kinda stupid." She says. "Yeah, no kidding." Hiccup says as he looks down at bunch of scales. Some blue others black.

He went down to pick some up but jumped back as the Night Fury came in front of them. Eria quickly went to see if the Dark Wing was there and there it was trying to push the Night Fury up without having any luck.

The Night Fury fell back and the Dark Wing got its balance back. Both dragons flew to the edge of the pond.

Hiccup and Eria slide down a rock so they can get a better at te dragons. The Night Fury tries to take off again but falls to the ground. Hiccup grabs his sketchbook out and draws the Night Fury out. Eria watches as the Dark Wing tries to help the Night Fury up but they both fall again. "Why arn't they flying away?" Eria asks.

"That's a very good question." Hiccup responds. Hiccup looks at his drawing and rubs off a side of the Night Fury's tail. The Night Fury lands next to the pond and watches as the fish jump out of the pond. The Night Fury slowly waited over the water. It dove its head into the water but the fish swam away first. The Dark Wing rubbed on the Night Fury and purred. Eria watches in awe as the dragons interacted.

Hiccup's hand relaxes and his pencil falls over the edge. Both Eria and Hiccup reach for it but it is out of reach. The dragons look up at them. Eria locked eyes with the Dark Wing but all she saw in it's eyes were respect.

"Where did Astrid go wrong in the ring today?" Gobber asks the group. "I mistimed my somersault dive. It was sloppy. It threw of my reverse tumble." As Astrid finished HIccup and Eria walked in." Gobber smiled at Eria. She smiled back then looked at Eric. He gave a slight wave then went back to the conversation. "Yeah we noticed." Ruffnut says. "No you were great. That was so "Astrid"." Snotlout says.

"She's right. You have to be tough on yourselves. Where did Hiccup go wrong." Hiccup and Eria grabbed their food then sat at the other table. "Uh, he showed up." Ruffnut says. "He didn't get eaten."  Tuffnut said. "He's never where he should be." Eric said and Astrid scoffed. "Thank you. Eric. You need to live and breath this stuff. The dragon manual. Everything we know about every dragon we know of."

Thunder rumbled. "Ah. No attacks tonight. Study up." Gobber says. "You mean read?" Tuffnut says "While we're still alive?" Ruffnut exclaims. "Why read words when you can just kill the stuff the words tell you about?!" Snotlout slammed the table. "Oh! I've read it like 7 times! There's this water dragon that sprays boiling water at your face! And there's this other one..." Tuffnut puts his hand in front of Fishlegs' face.  "Yeah, that sounds great. "There was a I'd read it..." Tuffnut started. "But now." Ruffnut finishes.

"You guys read. I'll go kill stuff." Snotlout says as he starts walking to the door. The others get up and start to follow him while talking over each other. Eria stands up and walks over to the other table where Eric and Astrid still sat. "So we can all read or..." Before Eria could Astrid pushed it Eria's way and got up. "Read it." Eria looked at her brother. "Go ahead and read it with Hiccup. When you guys are done I'll take it." Eria smiled. Eric got up but stopped. "I was never mad at you I just want you to be safe." He said and walked out. Eria slowly smiled and turned to Hiccup. "Did you hear that? He's not mad at me!" She jumped at Hiccup and hugged him.

Eria grabbed the book of dragons. They sad next to each other and opened it. "Dragon Classifications. Strike class. Fear class. Mystery class." Eria starts. "Thunderdrum. This reclusive dragon inhabits sa caves and dark tide pools. When startled, the Thunderdrum produces a concussive sound that can kill a man at close range. Extremely dangerous. Kill on sight." Hiccup reads. He continues. "Timberjack. This gigantic creature has razor-sharp wings that can slice through full-grown trees. Extremely dangerous. Kill on sight. Scauldron. Sprays scalding water at its victim. Extremely dangerous." Thunder rumbled outside and they both jumped.

"Changewing. Even newly hatched dragons can spray acid. Kill on sight. Gronckle. Zippleback. The Skrill. Bone Knapper. Whispering Death. Burns its victims. Buries its victims. Chokes its victims. Turns its victims inside out. Extremely dangerous. Extremely dangerous. Kill on sight. Kill on sight. Kill on sight." Eria finishes.

"Night Fury. Speed, unknown. Size, unknown. The unholy offspring of lightning and death itself. Never engage this dragon. Your only chance: hide and pray it does not find you." Eria took the book from his hand and looked to the next page but there was nothing about the Dark Wing. They looked at each with nothing but worry.
