"Two times four is..?"
"Eight." My whole class called out while Miss Wormwood wrote on the chalkboard.
"Two times six is.."
"Twelve."
"Two times nine is.."
"Eighteen!"
"Excellent! You've been practicing. Pretty soon you'll be able to do any multiplication whether it's two times seven," Miss Wormwood smiled proudly before we shouted out again. "Fourteen!" I heard Ella yell. "Good, or.. thirteen times three hundred and seventy nine."
I quickly scribbled it down on my page and found out what it was while the other kids were heavily confused.
"Four thousand, nine hundred and twenty seven." I called out. Miss Wormwood looked surprised. "..I beg your pardon?" She looked at me with surprise. "I think that's the answer." I shrugged as the kids turned around to look at me. "Thirteen times three hundred and seventy nine.. four nine two seven."
She didn't even have to write it down. She knew it was correct. I don't know how. "It is." She looked at me and I smiled brightly.

*BRRRRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGG*

"Oh. Break time! Go out to break, children."
We all got up and ran out of the class, hurrying to get outside. We all were super excited to go on all the rides but when we got to the entrance it all was..
"Gone? Where's..-" A little kid looked around.
"Where did it go?" Ella frowned. The only thing that was there was a yellow big jungle gym we never saw before. It all wasn't colorful anymore. "Where are all the slides?" I asked. Kids started muttering until the intercom screeched.

"Hello children. As you know, Headmistress Honey is on a trip. I will be taking over since I am vice principal. Now, I am aware that you all have a very nice yard but today somebody poured water all over a hallway. So in return, all your rides are gone. You only have our little old jungle gym I rebuilt. Ta ta, ma- I mean children!"

"Uhm. Since when did we have a vice principal?" I looked around confused. We all eventually went outside but we weren't as happy as we usually were.. "I don't like this!" Maisie frowned.
"None of us do, Maisie. Hey, do you guys think that person on the intercom sounds.. old?" Ella asked while we all sat in a corner of the dull yard.
"Yeah. She sounds like your mum's aunt.." I replied. Ella's mum's aunt was apparently really mean.
We both never had met her but we heard her voice while watching her mum's old CDs.

We all tried play on the jungle gym but it wasn't fun at all. It was uncomfortable, actually.
The bell rung and we all went back in. I looked up to find a silhouette standing by the railing, looking down. It looked like an elderly woman.

I sat back in my seat and noticed Miss Wormwood looked upset and concerned. Without a second thought, I got up from my seat and walked over to her. "Miss Wormwood? Are you okay?" I asked and glanced up at her.
"Yes, yes, I'm alright, Azalea." She tried comfort me but I wouldn't take it. I was about to say more until stopping and just going back to my seat.
Miss Wormwood started teaching and I listened impatiently until feeling crawling on my dress. I looked down to find a newt just crawling on my dress. I jumped a little in shock before realising how cute it was.
"Psst, Kyle!"
I called over to a boy who sat next to me. He had blonde fluffy hair and blue eyes. His mum was Mrs. Thripp. My mum was friends with her too!
"What, Azalea? I'm trying to learn!" He whispered back until I showed him the newt.
"A—"
"Shh! Don't say a word! He'll be taken away from me!" I shook my head.
"That's not a he! That's a weird creepy alien!" He frowned in fear. "Hey! He isn't an alien. He's my friend!"
I looked back at Ms Wormwood and tried listen again.

"It's reading time! Can anyone polish off the board please?"
I shot my hand up instantly and she noticed right away. "Ah, Azalea. Of course." She smiled and I hid the little newt in my desk.
I left up to the chalkboard until noticing how it was full with equations.
Polish this off? Hm. Okay then.
I quickly continued the equations and wrote down the answers underneath.
Miss Wormwood started walking up to the board after handing out books until seeing what I did.
"Umm.. Azalea? Did you— did you copy that off a book..?"
"No. You said to polish it off, so I did." I shrugged.
"Y-.. You got it right. But.. how?"
"What? How'd you know that?" I raised an eyebrow and looked at her.

"She's a teacher, of course she knows!" A loud voice called out. It was Liam. Liam Shaffernickle. He loved teasing me. I looked at him angrily before looking back up at Miss Wormwood.
"..Azalea, does your mum know about this? Your intelligence?"
"What's a in-tell-ee-jen?" I muttered.

"Miss! It's hurting my brain!" My friend Maisie called out. Maisie Bogtrotter. My mum was friends with her dad. Some of the kids' parents in my class all went to this school. They all knew Ms Wormwood.
Ms Wormwood calmed Maisie before sending me back to my seat. Suddenly Liam's hand shot up.
"Can I actually polish off the board, miss?" He offered.
Suddenly Kyle spoke up. "Don't be such a bully, Liam."
"I'm not! I'm just asking if I can clean the board." Liam protested. I glanced over at Kyle and grinned.
Unfortunately, the intercom screeched.

"Miss Wormwood's class go to the assembly hall now please."

I looked up at Miss Wormwood and I knew she recognised the stern and croaky voice of a woman.
"Alright, children. Come along." She asked us to all leave and I took off with Maisie and Ella and of course my new pet newt in my pocket.

We made it there and we were instructed to go to all the tables scattered around. We all scattered into our friend groups and sat  at a table. Liam and Kyle joined us since there was no space.
Suddenly the old chair spun around and sat there was a broad old woman sitting there. "Why, hello children." She looked like she was 70. I glanced at Miss Wormwood and her brows furrowed at the sight of her.
