"Ms. Miller, please come with us... something happened."
Dina woke up. It's been ten years and she was still dreaming about everything that has happened back then. And she just couldn't seem to ever forget the events, they were forever going to be a part of her and steal her sleep. By now she was used to dreaming about Joseph and his actions and she knew that she would never be able to finally get some peace unless she would get her revenge - or at least be able to make the person pay who she thought was responsible for the incident. And now she finally got the chance to do so.
Over the last ten years Dina has only left the house when it was absolutely necessary and couldn't be avoided. She lived together with her son Alexander and the people who would have been her in-laws if the incident wouldn't have happened.
Dina was staying in the house and her only job was to take care of Alexander and clean, cook and do the laundry. She was totally fine with that, as long as it meant that she wouldn't have to go outside and face other people. But one day she was reading the newspapers and one particular job advertisement caught her eye.
"Maid with experience wanted for cleaning and washing. Good payment with the option to live in the house. If interested, please contact Mrs. Sarah Winchester."
Normally Dina wouldn't have paid any kind of attention towards something like this but when she read the name she got interested. So she decided to write a letter to that woman although she didn't have any kind of professional experience but still two weeks later she was ready to leave the house and start working.
When she walked through the door she immediately felt nervous, looking around almost paranoid, unable to shake the thought that in a few moments there would be reporters storming towards her like they did ten years ago. She wasn't even able to think logically, nobody would be interested in a story that happened so long ago but Dina just kept thinking about it every single day.
She hugged her son Alexander one last time before she walked towards the coachman who was already waiting to bring her to the house of the Winchester family. The boy would stay with his grandparents while his mother was gone, she just couldn't take him with her since she had no idea what was going to happen or what she would say or do once she arrived. Besides that, she was never able to look at him properly anyways, he reminded her to much of Joseph, her one and only love, the man she wanted to marry.
And before they took off, she made sure again that she had the two rings, one on her finger and one on ger necklace that were reminding her of what a brighter future would have looked like and why she did what she did. And carved in them were the initials "D.M." and "B.J.B." that would always be there to make sure she would never forget everything that was wrong with Sarah Winchester and the Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
The ride took a really long time and when they were in the middle of nowhere, Dina fell asleep- against her will. She knew what was about to come as soon as she closed her eyes, so she naturally tried to avoid it when other people were around but she couldn't stay awake for one more minute at this point.

It was a sunny Tuesday and the eighteen year old girl was walking with a basket full of all sorts of fruit that she just bought at the local market. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she almost didn't notice the young man who didn't seem to see her until their paths collided. She almost lost her balance but the charming, handsome, young man caught her before she fell down.
"I'm so sorry." The girl said.
"No, it was my fault." The man replied. "I was in thoughts so I didn't see you. I'm the one who has to be sorry."
He didn't even look much older than her, only some years. And there was just something about him that made her blush and forget every word she has ever known. So the two of them just stood there for a while, not saying anything and she damned herself for being so shy all of a sudden. But luckily for her, the man broke that awkward silence between them eventually.
"Do you live in this village?" He asked her.
"Yes, our house is not very far away" The girl answered. "But I don't think I've ever seen you around."
He smiled. He was so handsome when he smiled, she thought. "I live in another village but it's not that far away... I was just coming here because I heard that this market sold the best and freshest apples."
"They are pretty good to be fair..." The young girl told him, feeling her cheeks redden more and more as she got an idea. "Do you want to try one?"
The young man nodded and so the two of them sat down on a nearby bench and started eating while they kept talking. Everything just seemed to be so easy and the girl felt something that she has never felt before when she was looking at the handsome man in front of her. But then she noticed that she forgot something, perhaps the most important part of getting to know somebody.
"What's your name?"
"My name is Ben..." Now he blushed, but the girl couldn't think of any reason. But now that she knew that he got nervous too, she wanted to have a little more fun - and also she needed to get some more information.
"And..." She started, grinning. "Does Ben also have a last name?"
Now he seemed to blush even harder and the girl even noticed him rubbing the back of his neck quite shyly, but at the same time it seemed as if he had tried to let her see how flustered he was - and failed horribly.
"Block... eh... Ben Block. And now, may I know your name?"
She giggled a little. "Dina Miller"

When she woke up she needed a moment to realize where she was and what was happening. Her hand almost instantly travelled up to touch the ring on her necklace, just to make sure that it was still there. She got so used to doing that, it was her routine every single time when she woke up from dreaming of him, she just didn't know what she'd do if one day, she didn't touch the ring. Would she panic or would she start to cry? There were so many memories connected to that simple piece of metal and she knew that she had to make sure that the ring was with her even in her sleep.
She sighed in relief when she felt that the ring was still there and started humming silently. It always helped to calm her down because the song she hummed was reminding her of Joseph. Whenever he would feel stressed about anything he would demand of her to sing it to him, he used to say that he felt inner peace when he heard Dina's voice. And after Ben's death she would always come back to singing this song, to remember all the good moments she shared with the man and also to slow down her heartbeat.
So she just sat there, and quietly began whisper-singing "Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee" And while she sat there she couldn't help but smile as she remembered all the good moments they shared and at the same time she felt a sting in her heart that made tears start running down her cheeks.
It was good that she was the only person in the carriage and that the coachman couldn't notice how nervous and sad and worried and uneasy she felt as she got so overwhelmed with everything. How could she get over everything that has happened when she saw the face of her dead fiancé whenever she would close her eyes?
So she desperately tried to stay awake even though she was still tired. She constantly had to distract herself with newspapers that she found lying around or by reading one of the many books that she brought with her.
And then the carriage arrived at the house of the Winchester family. It was enormous and looked like two hundred people could stay there without a problem and Dina got struck with a wave of pure hate. She hated the fact that someone who owns a company which profits from weapons and death would have enough money to live in such a house but she tried to swallow her anger as she got off the carriage and walked right towards Sarah Winchester.
