"Amicia! You cannot go!"
Said fairy gave her friend a pleading look. "But I must! Hugo needs the herbs to be found on that island! I cannot delay! Evil sorcerer be damned!"
"But you've heard the stories! The Perfidious Sorcerer eats the fairies that come anywhere near his tower! Surely you cannot be serious!"
"Oh but I am. And if I meet him, he will rue the day he ever tried to eat me!"
Her friend Trinity glowed Orange with caution and worry. "Please! I can't lose you! You're my only friend."
Amicia patted her friend's hands reassuringly. "I promise I'll be fine. Besides, I have my trusty sling!" She whipped it around and smiled.
"What good will a sling do against a sorcerer??"
"It will do just fine if I aim it right!"
"You have magic..." the other fairy mumbled.
"Who needs magic when rocks will do?" Laughed Amicia. "Now no more fuss! I'm off!"
And with that, she took to the skies, her friend calling out after her. Amicia didn't even bother to watch the little fairy village in the trees disappear from sight. She had one mission, and she wasn't going to wait one more second. If she had to do it alone, she would.
Amicia sucked in the fresh air around her, and she made a beeline towards the infamous Sorcerer's Island. She had left her little brother very sick, and she knew she must make haste!
The tall tower of the island rose high above the trees of the small island in the middle of a giant lake. It had been empty for a long time, but much to the fairies' horror, it was taken over by a supposedly Perfidious Sorcerer who ate their kin. Amicia wasn't sure if the rumors were true, but she wasn't going to take any chances. Too many fairies had disappeared recently.
The clear blue waters sparkled below her, and as she stared at the island, she had a hard time imagining such an evil being could reside there. Humans could be horrible, but how could something so horrible dwell in such a beautiful place??
She dipped down to touch the water and waved at the fish passing below. A few of them jumped next to her in greeting. Water was not her element, but she enjoyed it all the same.
Finally reaching the beach, she headed for the wood line. What she wanted was deep within the island forest. Flitting between branches and avoiding any forest creatures, she kept her eyes peeled for both the herb and the supposedly Perfidious Sorcerer. A few chipmunks waved at her from above, and she waved back. This place couldn't be too bad if the forest creatures were happy right?
Almost as if it were calling her, she saw the herb bathed in a stream of sunlight let in by the canopy above. Butterflies floated nearby, and a slight mist rested on the ground. As if in reverence, she approached the purple herb, hovering towards the top of the plant. Reaching out to touch it, there was suddenly a huge visage in front of her, bright blue eyes widening as the human face realized there was someone else there as well.
Flying straight back, Amicia immediately enlarged herself to compare in size with the human and took out her sling. "Who are you???"
Shocked, the young man fell back onto the ground, hood falling off to show a mop of thick brown hair. "I..."
"You're not going to eat me are you??" Her skin was glowing a bright orange, danger radiating from her.
A confused look crossed his face. "What? No! I'm not going to eat you! Who do you think I am??"
She slowed her sling, but she didn't put it away. "You're not the Perfidious Sorcerer?"
"The... what?" His eyebrow rose at this.
