As you remember correctly you battled Mew at the Mt.Stratus protecting the lab and you don't get a chance to capture it, but after beating the elite four go back to the lab and you'll see Mew. You need to have at least one space at your party; talk to him and he'll go to one of your Pokéballs, this event makes you capture a Mew.
