talent?

talent; its a difficult concept to grasp. some people are born with amazing talents and become succesfull at a young age while some develop a skill later on in life. why is having a talent such a big deal? to start off, humans are weird and they believe it makes you special but actually there are probably thousands of other who can do the same thing. every human is special in their own way despite being "talented" or not everyone is different and everyone will find a person who makes them feel special but in a world where skills and talents are so valued and important you cant help but feel bad when you dont have one. what if youre in highschool and still havent found what youre good at? introducing haewon;

"no way... they d-did that! hahahhhahha" haewon got out between her laughs. "i mean we do look alike but theres no way she thought you were me" kyujin added whike giggling at the story her friend was telling them. "okay thats enough, hae shut up before i slap you the whole class is looking at us! whatever what class is it?" jiwoo asked. "we have math and apparently we got a new teacher" the youngest answered while dramaticly acting like she was about to cry. "i just hope theyre better than the last one, that woman was a bitch and who even puts math for the last class of the day" jiwoo groaned in annoyance, tilting her head back and closing her eyes shut for a short moment.

"can we please not talk about class i had enough of school today, you guys wanna hang out after school?" the oldest asked wanting to spend some time with her friends even tho they were already together 24/7. "sorry hae, i have to go to the dance club today" kyujin answered while shyly looking down, not wanting to disappoint her friend.

"and i still have to finish writing my song, maybe some other time? oh and werent you gonna have dinner with your parents today?" jiwoo added. "ohhh yeah i forgot about that. its fine we can hang out the day aft-" right as haewon was about to end her sentence the class door opened revealing a woman who was stunningly beautiful with her black hair that was quite short. she was wearing a white buttoned down shirt with a grey jacket over it and a skirt that was the same color. she seemed to be their new math teacher. every student in the class shut up and sat properly in their places to make a good impression.

"hi students, im your new math teacher, ms park. i hope we can get along well. now lets get to know eachother better one by one." she talked as if she was talking to a group of little kids but most students didnt seem to mind since she seemed very kind. "thats kinda childish" haewon muttered under her breath. the students started to introduce themselves one by one talking about the things they like doing. haewon wasnt really listening to any of it until she heard one of her classmates say "i can play the violin and piano, and i also take karate lessons as well as ballet lessons and ive been doing all of them for over five years now" haewon was surely impressed i mean who wouldnt it wasnt really something you would hear everyday. haewon decided to write down all the talents she had and excitedly pulled out a pen and paper from her bag. she started thinking and excitedly writing down every talent she had.

my talents :)
- sleeping
- eating the house out of stock
- annoying the fuck out of jiwoo and kyujin...

that was all haewon could think of. she was very disappointed with herself but she just shook it off crumpling the paper and throwing it in her bag. "whatever talents are overrated anyway. i mean not everybody has to play the violin or something" haewon thought and just continued to daydream on her desk waiting for the class to be over.

(a/n: fun fact this is actually based on real events. i got this idea in math class when we got a new teacher and she wanted us to introduce ourselves one by one and turns out all of my classmates are really talented for some reason. so i decided to write all the talents i had but turns out the only thing im good at is speaking english and eating🥲 so thats the whole reason why im writing this story🤭)

school had finally ended and haewon was walking home by herself like she usually did. she was thinking about what to make for dinner since they were going to eat together. haewon had a great relationship with her parents, they loved her and she loved them but they didnt get to be together that often as her parents worked alot. they would go to work very early and return home late but haewon knew her parents just wanted the best for her so she didnt mind it. today both of her parents had an off day so they were going to have a nice family dinner which they didnt have in a while now and thats why haewon wanted to make something really nice for dinner. without even realising she had reached her home, taking her keys out and slowly opening the door to her home. she got in as she took her shoes of and ran to the bathroom. washing her hands and face, then changing her clothes and rushing to the kitchen. she didnt have much time to cook but she wanted to make something that was atleast edible. she decided to go with foreign quisine since they had korean food everyday. she did some research online and settled on making börek which was a turkish food.

(a/n: not me trying to sneak some turkish foods in the story lmao. also börek tastes amazing you should definietly try it if you havent)

right as the food was almost done baking, haewon heard a knock on the door. she quickly got up and opened the door revealing her mom and dad who looked very tired but they still smiled softly at their daughter. haewon immidieatly hugged her mom and whispered in her ear "i already made food you dont have to worry". a soft thanks could be heard from her mom as they broke the hug. haewon quickly hugged her dad as well.

they were all at the dinner table enjoying the food and eachothers company in a very comfortable silence. "hows school going hae?" haewons dad asked looking at his daughter. "its just the same as always, kinda boring actually" haewon giggled. "hows the food by the way?" she added. its great sweetie, thank you so much" her mom smiled. "hae, did you hear about your cousin, sunghoon? he is going to have another ice skating show. youll watch it, right?" her mom added. "oh really, ill go to watch it with my friends. im sure he'll do great again" haewon answered. "i hope we can see you doing something like that one day" her dad smiled. those words stung haewon a little bit making her remember what happened in math class. yes she didnt care about such things but hearing something like that from her parents did make her care. she also wanted to show people that she had a talent she wanted to show others that she was special too.

what if people left her behind for being useless? yes these thought were irrational but haewon still thought about them. suddenly she felt like she was going to cry. she suddenly got up from the table "uhhm im not hungry goodnight mom and dad" she said as and walked towards the stairs to get to her room. "why did i do that oh my gosh im so stupid, ill just read a book to get my mind off of it" she opened up her school bag, reaching her hand in the backpack to get her book but instead her hand touched something else. it was the list she made during school. "wow i really am useless" she chuckled without humor as she threw the note on the floor and layed on her bed.

her mind was filled with random thoughts which felt weird to her. she was never to type to worry about things like these but it changed for some reason. did she realize how useless she was? or maybe something else? at this moment haewon decided that she would do anything to find what she was good at.

(a/n: sorry for the lack of lily in this chapter i just had to explain haewons story first because thats literally the whole plot. i have school tomorrow and i need to sleep but here i am writing a haely fanfic instead. also i reread this like a billion times so im really sorry if there are any spelling mistakes i didnt realize. and most importantly nmixx released the young, dumb, stupid mv i personally really liked the song, especially the chorus makes me feel really nostalgic [i used to live in germany when i was younger and i would always sing bruder jakob which is the nursery rhyme that the chorus sounds like] im extremely exctied to hear the rest of the album. anyways did you guys like the chapter? and dont worry im gonna put some cute haely moments in the next chapter. dont forget to eat and drink, goodnight/day/evening <3)
