"So you've been hiding here huh?"
Duri jumped a little from the sudden sound as he turned his head around to see who just spoke. And there he saw Taufan sheepishly scratching his cheek after seeing Duri's surprised reaction because of him. "Sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you." Taufan apologized gently as he took a seat beside Duri, enjoying the soft breeze that passes through the trees in the forest. It was silent between them, the only noises they could hear was the sound of the leaves swaying from the gentle breeze of the wind.
"Are the others looking for me? Are you here to bring me back?" Duri finally started a conversation. Taufan went silent for a moment before answering back "I won't take you back until you want to go back, and for your first question... I'll answer truthfully, no... they didn't notice you were even gone..." the embodiment of happiness said in a mellow tone, and the embodiment of a child's innocence too looked down, how ironic. "It's alright, I already knew they don't care about me..." He said with no more light reflecting from his eyes.
"That's not true!" Taufan shouted but got little to no response from Duri. "They all care about you!" Taufan continued and held Duri's shoulders. Duri slowly looked back up, his gaze locked with Taufan "And how would you know that?" A simple question, yet Taufan couldn't answer it. His mind tried desperately to find a memory that proves it... but he found none. "Well, at least I still care—"
"IT TOOK YOU THREE DAYS BEFORE YOU NOTICED I WAS GONE!! I HAVEN'T EATEN NOR DRINK IN THREE DAYS, I'VE JUST BEEN HERE WAITING FOR DEATH BUT YOU ALL COULDN'T LET ME DO THAT EITHER CAN YOU?! YOU WON'T LET ME DIE BUT YOU WON'T LET ME LIVE EITHER!" Duri screamed his heart out, letting everything out, dumping all of his pain and frustration to Taufan.
None of them were in the rights here. Duri shouldn't have let all of his frustration out on Taufan, and Taufan lost his role as a dependable big brother as, true to Duri's words, he only noticed on the third day.
After shouting, Duri quickly broke into tears and sorry sobs repeatedly came out of his mouth. Taufan didn't stand there quietly and quickly pulled Duri into a hug to calm him down. "I'm sorry... you're right, I didn't notice you were gone for days, but I'm here to make up for that, and I also don't want you to die... I'm sure none of us wants that... even if I don't have any proof." Taufan explained as he made comforting circles around Duri's back, he could hear the sobs fading away before Duri decided to let go of their hug. "I... I don't want to die either..." Duri said, leaning his body in a fetal position towards Taufan's chest to seek warmth and comfort. Duri chuckled a little when he opened his gloves, his hands looked like they were wounded quite badly. Taufan quickly caught attention of this and grabbed Duri's hand worriedly "What did you do?"
The plant manipulator managed to activate his healing powers to heal those wounds despite he hadn't eaten any food or water for a whole three days. After doing so, Taufan could feel the weight Duri's body was putting on his chest started to get heavier. Taufan didn't like where this could be going.
Duri couldn't help but giggle again seeing Taufan's face reflecting even more worry. "The wounds are a normal occurrence, silly. My thorns always do that to my hands when I use them. I just thought that if I don't heal it and show you, maybe you all would be proud of me... seeing how I've always pushed myself to the limits to just come close to being as strong as you all." Duri explained while smiling, but he could still feel his eyes start to feel hot and tears started to well up. "Duri... you shouldn't be doing this..." Taufan was in the same position, tears threatening to fall. Taufan couldn't come close to imagining how much pain Duri inflicts on himself when he grips those thorny vines on the daily. And yet Duri still acted like everything was alright.
The dark blue attired element suddenly felt the other's hand gripping his shirt, bangs covering his eyes but he could see clearly the tears streaming down his cheeks. "Just... tell me you're proud of me... please... I need to know that it was all worth it..." He could hear Duri's trembling voice, he didn't want to lie, he was disappointed that Duri would harm himself just to feel like he would live up to the others that way, but... Duri's mind was not in the right place, the truth might break him. "Yes, I'm very proud of you Duri..." Taufan whispered as he rested his head on Duri's. "Do you really mean it?" Oh come on, he shouldn't have been the one to comfort Duri, Taufan is always more than willing to lie to Gempa and Halilintar but to his younger brothers? It felt almost impossible because of the unexplainable guilt that always haunts him after every lie.
"Yes... I do mean it, you've become very strong and I'm proud of you"
That's going to be haunting him for a while
He could see Duri smile softly before he fell asleep from tiredness. Taufan gently cradled Duri's body, whispering his sorries for lying before carrying his little brother home.
What an interesting small talk they had...
