You woke up to the sound of children laughing and shouting. You looked out the window to see them kicking a soccer ball into an alleyway which they considered to be the goal.

You needed to get to work so you walked away from the window, put on an outfit and walked over to Herr Steiners tailor shop. The bell jingle as you walked in through the door.

"Hallo Y/N!" Alex Steiner called out to you from the back.

"Good morning Herr Steiner!" You shouted back. Taking off your coat and putting on the coat rack that was to the side.

You walked to the back and Alex Steiner let you work on stitching the hems of suits and dresses. He walked over to the front desk in case customers needed any help. That's all you did, fix peoples clothing. Once in a while, you'd get small projects to work on.

After a few hours, you were bored and no customers that needed repairs came in. Alex saw you analyzing the fabrics, the colors, nearly everything in the shop that would stop you from caving in to the boredom that was eating away at you.

"You can go home now if you want." Alex laughed looking at your eyes dart around. You looked at him.

"Oh, okay. Dankeschön, Herr Steiner." You smiled and walked towards the coat rack.

You grabbed your coat and walked out of the store. You were a few steps away from your front door when all of the sudden, a car came to a stop in front of the Hubermann home. You couldn't help but look at what it was. Curiosity always got the best of you.

A lady got out and started talking to the pair. You started to watch and eavesdrop.

"The girl is in the car." The woman said. From that you could already tell that Rosa and Hans had decided to foster a child, well a girl.

They already had two children but they were somewhere else, they moved away. You never spoke to them but you were sorta friends with them when you were a small girl. Rosa went over to the car and looked inside.

"Where is the boy?" She asked, looking salty at the lady.

"The boy died on the way here Frau Hubermann. They had to bury him by the tracks." She explained. Rosa looked angry.

"But you said there would be two!" She wailed, walking up to the woman. Hans put a hand on his wife.

"Let's not make a big deal now, at least they both didn't die." He smiled lightly. He walked over to the car and was able to get her out.

Hans was walking towards the house with the girls hand in his. The car sped away and you and the girl shared a small glimpse before you realized you probably looked crazy just standing and staring at who knows what. You walked back inside and realized you were immediately intrigued by the girl, who you would come to know as Liesel Meminger.

THE NEXT DAY

You walked outside to see Hans outside rolling a cigarette. You looked at both ends of the road to make sure there were no cars. None. You started to make your way over.

"Hallo Hans!" You greeting the man. You knew him from before hand since your parents were friends with Rosa and Hans in school.

"Oh, good morning Y/N!" He smiled at you before looking back at his cigarette.

"How's the girl so far? What's her name?" You almost immediately bombarded him with questions. He looked up at you.

"She's good. Her names Liesel." He laughed and answered all your questions. You smiled and couldn't help but let out a chuckle.

"Well, if she ever needs my help with studying, you know where to find me!" You motioned to your house. He smiled and thank you for your offer.

You had been the top student in reading and writing in elementary school, you even used to tutor the smaller kids but no-one took you up on your offer anymore so you stopped presenting the help. You walked back to your home after talking to Hans for a little more, you asked how Hans Junior and Trudy were doing.

You make yourself dinner and looked at the time. 8:56. You decided to get ready for bed but you would take your time instead of rushing since you didn't have work tomorrow.
