you still haven't given me last night's debrief," you walked over to the couch and looked over at armin, who's clad in sunglasses and baggy loungewear, and is sprawled on said couch like he pays the rent for your tiny 1 bed apartment.
you tossed him the bottle of tylenol that you were holding and armin laughed, "you were there the entire night dumbass, there is no debrief." he shook 2 pills from the bottles and swallowed them, thanked you and returned your bottle. "just drank too much, jesus. feels like my head might explode."
you didn't know if armin had genuinely forgotten or took you for an absolute idiot, but it was hard to miss when he left you during the night, especially with a girl that was known by your friends for being your lookalike. you tried to drink away the ping of jealousy that rose in the pit of your stomach after that. you were a different person when you were drunk.
you cringed a little while looking back on it.
"you really don't remember leaving with that girl? wooow, what a player you are arlert," you scoffed, sitting next to him on the couch and turning yourself sideways to put your legs over his lap. you stole his sunglasses and put them on since the sun was setting and it was getting considerably dimmer in your apartment.
"oh, her," armin played with a loose thread in his shirt, becoming obviously embarrassed that he forgot. "like i said, i had too much to drink." this was his desperate attempt at fixing the situation because, to his memory, that's why he picked her out. how embarrassing.
"welllll..?" you scooted closer, your knees raising off of his thighs as your interest piqued. he sighed, "'welllll' nothing happened."
"liar!"
"okay, promise you won't laugh."
"you drive a hard bargain... but i accept.
"we were kissing, and that ended up being all we did because she tried to unbutton my jeans and i got cold feet cause, y'know, never done it before, and i told her i couldn't do it even though i wanted to, and blah blah blah... then mikasa drove me home cuz eren got into a fight," he rambled.
the eren part you weren't surprised about, since that seemed happened at almost all of the parties on campus, most particularly with jean, but you stifled a laugh when armin began to describe his romantic encounter with this stranger.
"you said you wouldn't laugh!" he feigned a whiney tone and pushed your knee playfully. "i'm-i'm not— " you cracked under the pressure, releasing your onslaught of giggles and falling backward onto the unoccupied part of the couch. it took an embarrassing amount of time and deep breaths for you to calm yourself and sit back up.
"you're the only person i know that gets as many girls as you do but dips the second one of them tries to fuck you," you sigh. armin thinks of his response for a second. "i guess i'd just rather lose it to someone i trust," armin shrugged, "like you."
you turned red and you could tell he didn't mean to say that, and you followed in his footsteps, not having anything snarky to say and freezing up. "you mean that?" and armin decided to go with it, mumbling a "well, yeah.. i mean, if you ever wanted to.."
"i'd be up for that."

and so you ended up watching your favorite movie on the couch with armin much later into the night after he practically asked to have sex with you. you assumed he'd long forgotten about it, and you were in your own mind reassuring yourself that you couldn't have any real feelings for armin. yes he was popular around your university and yes you felt jealous of the girls who liked him even when sober, but that didn't mean you liked him. you'd known him since you were kids, so if the two of you were meant to be it probably would've prevailed a while ago. it would've prevailed in highschool when you grew into adolescence and got more shy around your best friend, it would've prevailed when armin was the first out of you both, mikasa, and eren to move to campus and you felt heartbroken despite the fact that you would be there in a couple months. it would've prevailed sooner, you were sure of it.
