𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐓𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐁𝐋𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐋𝐓 𝐂𝐋𝐈𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄. not because you were overly hard to protect, no. it was more so because of your affinity for teasing your handsome bodyguard. who could really blame you? especially on nights like this, at your father's gala, where he looked so damn attractive.
"don't stare at me like that?" eren says under his breath as he stands next to you. you give him an innocent look like you're unsure of what he's talking about but you're well aware that you've been drooling over eren. seeing him in a suit with his long brown locks tied back into a bun was impossible to resist. "someone's going to suspect that something is going on between us".
you chuckle as you sip on your glass of champagne. "what's wrong with that? are you embarrassed at the thought of dating me?" you tease. the smirk on your face only grows wider as you witness a blush spread across eren's cheeks. no he's not embarrassed. if anything he'd be honored to be with you but that's out of the question.
"i'm worried about my job. if your father were to think i'm taking advantage of you he'd fire me or worse" eren tells you as his emerald green eyes flicker back toward the party guests. he's trying to keep watch for any potential threats but his focus is compromised when your hand grazes the bulge in his pants.
"so paranoid. i would never allow my father to fire me. you do such a good job taking care of me" you purr.
shooting you glare, eren's about to lecture you for doing something so inappropriate and bold. however, he stops short when someone begins speaking to him over his earpiece. the smug expression on your face fades when you see eren's eyebrows furrow with concern. the next thing you know he's grabbing your hand and pulling you away from the crowd.
"there might be an infiltration. your father has ordered me to take you up stairs" eren explains, leading you to the nearest elevator. as much as you liked giving eren a hard time, you obey him as he takes you up a few floors of the hotel where the event was being hosted. you're silent even as eren takes you to a room and pulls you inside.
"i'm going to go back and check things out. you stay here-" eren starts to say, fully planning on locking the room and leaving you by yourself. you stop him by anxiously grabbing your wrist. he's about to tell you that you need to let go but eren's face softens when he sees the genuine look of fear in your eyes.
"please don't go. need you here with me" you tug on his sleeve desperately. eren considers his options for a minute before sighing. he agrees to remain by your side. it's probably safer anyway if he lets the other bodyguards at the venue handle the situation.
loosening his tie, eren sits on the edge of the king sized bed as you sit against the headboard. "you're going to be okay" he promises you when he glanced over his shoulder to see you with your legs against your chest. "know i'm not going to let anything happen to you".
your eyes are a little watery as you look back at him. "you swear?".
there's a pause as eren crawls across the mattress to get close to you. once his face is an inch away from your own, he replies. "yes. this isn't just a job to me, hear me? i want to keep you safe".
usually you're the one surprising eren but when he speaks his heart you find yourself bewildered. the tone of his voice is so serious that there's no denying that he means every word that leaves his lips. no matter how much eren complains about how much of an unconventional client you are, it was true that he cared about you. if it was called for he'd die to stop you from being hurt.
