Long, long ago . Hundreds of years. Chess was invented. It was a revolutionary thing of an invention back in those times as it conquered all the other games. Although it had many down flaws. First it was only for the royals and rich. And second of all,
It was something that depended on your lives.
You see, chess right now might be just a simple game that you play from time to time but in the past, it had a lot more bloodshed in the past. Chess used to be a game that could take one's kingdom, marry one's son and daughter, kill someone during trial, or possibly even start a war. It was a horrible game back in the day.
And then one day, the family from an allied kingdom came to Shinobu's land. She was told that it was a political problem, but it was not like Shinobu could really understand. She was only ten after all.
Both the families were in the sitting room, discussing things Shinobu couldn't really understand. She was walking around the castle wondering what to do, and she bumped into a boy.
She was a little hurt from the sudden bump, so she looked up to see who bumped into her. And my oh my, Shinobu got her first crush.
The one who bumped into her was a handsome young boy! He looked like he was around her age. His short black hair matched perfectly with his divine suit and blue orbs ( eyes )! She was absolutely flabbergasted by his beauty.
"Are you okay?" He said as he reached his hand out to help her get up from the ground.
Shinobu got out of her thoughts and got up immediately.
"I-i am f-fine."
"I am sorry for bumping into you."
"It's fine."
There was an... Awkward silence after that. Until the young man responded.
"My name is Giyu and do you want to play?"
"M-my name is Shinobu a-and s-sure."
Giyu had a sparkle in his eyes. He then dragged Shinobu by the arm and brought her into a room. It had a briefcase in it. Giyu opened the briefcase and Shinobu just watched in curiosity.
He opened out a checkered box with black and white. Shinobu's curiosity went higher and she wondered what Giyu had in his hands.
"Since it's such a nice day today, why don't we play this outside?"
Shinobu only nodded and led Giyu into the castle gardens, which were big enough to fit two whole mansions. You could already imagine how big it actually was.
Giyu then started setting up the box which had many pieces inside, although they were only black and white. Then he explained to Shinobu how the game works and Shinobu was really surprised at how complicated the game was. She was playing a practice round with Giyu after all the rules were explained and she was doing pretty well. She eventually lost to Giyu though and she was sulking at that. Giyu let out a small chuckle.
She looked at him, literally the most shocked look ever. But that face went off when she took a good close look at him. The sun was shining, the dewdrops were falling off the leaves, the bees were collecting honey, the water was twinkling and to Shinobu, he looked so much better like this.
"Hey Shinobu, I am pretty sure that I'll have to leave soon so do you promise that we will stay friends from now on?"
Shinobu gave him a warm smile.
"I promise."
Ten minutes later Giyu's family left and Shinobu was sad. Even though she knew that she could not do anything about it, it still hurt her. It hurt her in a way that she couldn't describe in words. But alas, it had to be done.
But both of them sent letters, gifts, weird messages and so on. They still kept in touch, even though they were far away from each other.
Their love bloomed like a flower and grew like a beautiful flower.
After that there came a big loss and tragedy that Giyu couldn't process. Because to him, it felt like a very bad dream.
A war broke out between all the kingdoms and almost all alliances were broken. In the near end Shinobu was killed by an enemy team member . It devastated Giyu and it changed him. It turned him emotionless, cold and extremely heartbroken. He took his own life after that.

But fate gave them another chance to reunite.
Both of them were reborn, and they were apart of a chess club. They met, fell in love and created a family that they never had in their past life. It was a...
Happy family.
As it turns out this entire love started from chess and ended with it. The love was so great it kept in touch on how it started.
A/N- hi y'all. I am sorry for making it angsty but hey, at least it's different from what I normally write at least. Although if y'all like smuts then I'll write smuts but I felt different today so that's why I made fluff. Well it should really be called angsty fluff but who cares. And it's short againnnnn. I hate it when my chapters are short but I can't really do anything right now since I am tired as fuck. Anyway hope ya enjoyed it.
